Job Purpose
The Architectural Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for architectural and finishing works within major infrastructure projects during the tendering and pre-construction stages.
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents, architectural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project requirements.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates for architectural and finishing works.
- Develop unit-rate analyses covering materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overheads.
- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations and maintain updated market prices.
- Identify tender discrepancies, missing information, exclusions, and commercial or technical risks.
- Coordinate with technical, procurement, planning, and commercial teams to ensure accurate pricing.
- Develop value-engineering proposals and cost-effective alternatives.
- Prepare tender cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, clarifications, and supporting documents.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in estimation, tendering, or cost management, including direct experience in estimating architectural and finishing works for major infrastructure projects.
- Previous experience within a contractor’s estimation or tendering department.
- Strong knowledge of the Saudi construction market, suppliers, subcontractors, labor rates, and material prices.
- Advanced knowledge of quantity take-offs, cost estimation, rate analysis, tendering, and value engineering.
- Ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings, specifications, BOQs, and tender documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimation software; knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, CostX, or PlanSwift is preferred.
- Hands-on tender-stage estimation experience is required; post-contract commercial experience alone is not sufficient.
