RoleAs a Controls Software Development Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the controls software behind Swisslog's automated intralogistics solutions. With a primary focus on pallet storage systems, you will help create reliable, scalable, and high-quality controls software that drives automation performance and supports the continuous evolution of our product portfolio. In this role, you will:
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve PLC-based controls software for Swisslog's automation solutions, with a primary focus on pallet storage applications.
- Create, maintain, and improve configurable software libraries and reusable components.
- Support the design, implementation, and validation of engineering solutions.
- Perform software testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality performance and reliability.
- Identify software defects, analyze root causes, and contribute to corrective actions.
- Contribute to engineering standards, specifications, and development best practices.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and development-related materials.
Continuously improve your technical capabilities through training, coaching, and hands-on experience.
Application Requirements
What you need to succeed
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent higher education qualification in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant professional experience in software development or controls engineering in intralogistics or similar automation industries.
- Strong automation and PLC programming skills, ideally Siemens TIA Portal with Structured Text.
- Knowledge of software development principles, testing methodologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and collaborate with electrical engineering teams.
- A structured and analytical approach to problem-solving and strong attention to quality and continuous improvement.
- Fluent English communication skills.
