About DB-El Sewedy Railway Operation Egypt
Deliver Egypt’s first High-Speed Rail service with DB-El Sewedy Railway Operation Egypt (DBEE), a joint venture between DB International Operations and Elsewedy Electric. Combining international railway operations and maintenance expertise with strong local capabilities in infrastructure and engineering, DBEE is supporting the development of a safe, efficient, and sustainable high-speed rail network across Egypt.
We are looking for a Contract Engineer to join our team in Cairo and support the effective management and administration of contractual matters throughout the O&M project lifecycle.
The Role
As a Contract Engineer, you will support the administration and management of the O&M Contract and related contractual agreements. You will work closely with Project Management, Operations, Technical, Procurement, and Finance teams, while coordinating with the Client, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure contractual compliance and protect the company’s contractual position.
Your Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day administration and management of the O&M Contract and related agreements.
- Monitor contractual obligations, deliverables, milestones, notices, and key deadlines.
- Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence, commitments, variations, claims, and commercial matters.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate contractual correspondence, notices, submissions, and reports.
- Identify and monitor contractual changes, deviations, risks, and potential claims.
- Support the preparation and administration of Variation Orders, Extension of Time (EOT) submissions, and additional-cost claims.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain technical, contractual, and commercial evidence to support claims and negotiations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure contractual requirements are understood and properly implemented.
- Support contractual risk identification, mitigation, and continuous improvement of contract management processes.
- Support contract close-out and the resolution of outstanding contractual and commercial matters.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in contract administration, contract management, commercial management, or a related field.
- Experience in railway, transportation, infrastructure, construction, or O&M projects is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of contractual principles, claims, variations, notices, and commercial risk management.
- Knowledge of FIDIC or other internationally recognized forms of contract is an advantage.
- Experience working with clients, contractors, subcontractors, government authorities, or joint-venture organizations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Fluent Arabic and English are required; German or French is an advantage.
