About the Role!
As a CBB-mandated "Controlled Function," you will serve as the primary guardian of our operating license. You will lead all regulatory compliance efforts (ensuring adherence to CBB Volume 5) while simultaneously acting as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to safeguard our payment gateways against financial crime.
You will act as the primary liaison between FOMO Pay, the CBB, and Bahrain’s Financial Intelligence Directorate (FID).
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Oversight & Reporting: Ensure the firm’s daily operations, product launches, and tech infrastructure comply strictly with the CBB Rulebook (Volume 5 - Ancillary Service Providers), Group Policies and other relevant regulations.
- CBB & Audit Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact for the CBB, managing all regulatory correspondence, reporting, and scheduled/ad-hoc inspections/audits.
- Data Privacy: Act as the internal champion for the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), ensuring all merchant and consumer data is handled, stored, and processed legally.
- Policy & Procedures: Draft, implement, and update the firm’s Compliance Manual, Code of Conduct, and internal governance frameworks, in accordance with with local regulations.
- Advisory: Advise the CEO, HR, and Sales teams on the regulatory implications of new business initiatives and partnerships in the GCC.
- AML/CFT Framework: Design and oversee the firm’s Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism policies, ensuring they meet CBB, Group and FATF standards.
- Transaction Monitoring: Implement and manage automated transaction monitoring systems for high-volume digital payments and cross-border settlements.
- KYC & Onboarding: Oversee the digital onboarding and periodic review process (eKYC, CDD, and EDD) for new merchants and corporate clients.
- Suspicious Activity Reporting: Investigate internal alerts and independently file Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the FID and the CBB when necessary.
- Team Building: Train staff annually on AML/CFT awareness.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of proven experience in partnerships, business development, or key account management within fintech, financial services, Web3, digital assets, or the wider payments industry.
- Deep understanding of the global fintech and digital payments ecosystem, including familiarity with banks, payment service providers, financial institutions, and digital asset service providers.
- Demonstrated success in independently managing complex commercial discussions, partner onboarding, and cross-functional project delivery.
- Highly comfortable coordinating with Product and Technology teams on API or system integrations from a strategic business perspective.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to influence and collaborate effectively with both external executives and internal teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail.
- Proactive, commercially driven, and highly adaptable, with the ability to thrive and concurrently manage multiple workstreams in FOMO Pay's fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
