Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Accountant role located in Erbil Governorate, Iraq. The Accountant will manage day-to-day financial activities, including recording transactions, maintaining general ledgers, and preparing journal entries. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements and reports, reconciling bank accounts, managing accounts payable and receivable, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. The role also involves monitoring compliance with internal controls and relevant accounting standards, assisting with audits, and preparing tax-related documentation in coordination with local regulations. The Accountant will collaborate with operations and management teams to provide accurate, timely financial information that supports decision-making and business performance.
Qualifications
- * Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel; ability to work with spreadsheets, financial models, and reporting tools.
- Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and basic financial analysis.
- Familiarity with local tax regulations and compliance requirements in Iraq or willingness to learn them quickly.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills in English; Kurdish and/or Arabic language skills are an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field; professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA or equivalent) are a plus.
- Ability to work on-site in Erbil Governorate, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and maintain high ethical standards.
- Previous experience in the petroleum, energy, or industrial services sector is preferred but not required.
