Role Description
We are seeking a commercially focused and strategic VP of Business Development to lead growth initiatives, develop strategic relationships, and identify new opportunities that support the organization’s long-term objectives. This role works closely with senior leadership to shape business development strategies, expand market opportunities, and build sustainable commercial partnerships.
The VP of Business Development will oversee the identification, evaluation, and development of new business opportunities across relevant markets and sectors. You will analyze market conditions, customer needs, industry trends, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities to develop practical growth strategies.
Key responsibilities include developing business development plans, identifying potential clients and partners, establishing strategic relationships, and managing the commercial development process from initial opportunity through negotiation and execution. The role requires a strong balance of strategic thinking, commercial awareness, relationship management, and execution.
You will work closely with sales, marketing, finance, operations, product, legal, and other teams to ensure that business development initiatives are aligned with organizational capabilities and commercial objectives. You will also coordinate cross-functional resources to support proposals, partnerships, negotiations, and strategic projects.
The role involves developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, strategic partners, clients, investors, and other relevant parties. You will represent the organization in business discussions, industry meetings, presentations, and partnership negotiations when required.
The VP of Business Development will monitor the performance of business development activities and provide regular reports to senior leadership. This includes tracking pipeline development, partnership opportunities, revenue potential, market expansion initiatives, and other relevant commercial indicators.
You will also contribute to pricing discussions, commercial proposals, market-entry strategies, partnership structures, and growth planning. The role requires the ability to evaluate opportunities from both commercial and strategic perspectives while considering financial implications, operational requirements, risks, and long-term value.
Qualifications
- * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic background in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong understanding of business development, sales strategy, market expansion, partnerships, and commercial growth.
- Excellent ability to identify, evaluate, and prioritize business opportunities based on market potential and organizational objectives.
- Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of revenue models, pricing, profitability, customer acquisition, and value creation.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with senior stakeholders, clients, partners, and decision-makers.
- Strong understanding of market research, competitive analysis, customer segmentation, and business strategy.
- Ability to develop business cases, commercial proposals, partnership strategies, and market-entry plans.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret commercial and market data.
