Role DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially aware Senior Tax Accountant to support tax compliance, reporting, accounting activities, and financial planning. The role involves managing tax-related processes, reviewing financial information, supporting statutory requirements, and helping ensure that tax matters are handled accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable regulations.
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax calculations, returns, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation. You will work closely with accounting and finance teams to ensure that tax information is complete, accurate, properly recorded, and submitted within relevant deadlines.
Key responsibilities include reviewing general ledger accounts for tax implications, reconciling tax-related balances, analyzing transactions, preparing tax provisions, and supporting periodic and annual tax reporting. The role may cover areas such as corporate income tax, indirect taxes, withholding tax, VAT or sales tax, depending on the applicable business and regulatory environment.
You will also assist with tax research and interpretation of relevant legislation, regulations, and guidance. This includes identifying potential tax issues, assessing the financial impact of transactions, and communicating practical recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
The role requires close coordination with internal departments, external auditors, tax advisers, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders when required. You may support tax audits, information requests, reconciliations, and the preparation of documentation needed to address tax-related inquiries.
The Senior Tax Accountant will also contribute to improving tax processes and internal controls. You will help identify compliance risks, improve documentation standards, streamline reporting procedures, and maintain accurate tax records and supporting schedules.
In addition, the role may involve supporting tax planning initiatives, financial analysis, forecasting, and business projects where tax considerations are relevant. The successful candidate should be able to balance technical accuracy with practical business requirements while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professional integrity.
Qualifications
- * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic background in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, taxation concepts, financial reporting, and tax compliance processes.
- Good knowledge of corporate taxation, indirect taxation, withholding tax, VAT or sales tax, and related reporting requirements.
- Ability to prepare and review tax calculations, returns, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounts and the relationship between accounting records and tax reporting.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to research tax legislation, regulations, and official guidance and translate technical requirements into practical actions.
- Strong ability to identify potential tax risks, discrepancies, and compliance issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting, tax, or ERP systems.
- Ability to manage confidential financial and tax information with discretion and integrity.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain tax matters to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with accounting, finance, legal, audit, and external tax professionals.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Professional accounting or tax qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CTA, CMA, or equivalent are welcomed but not mandatory.
