WORK PURPOSE
RENCO is seeking a Senior Planning Engineer for an upcoming major energy-sector and real estate/infrastructure project in Oman.
The successful candidate will provide senior planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting support across major project activities. The role will support project teams in maintaining effective programme controls, monitoring progress, identifying schedule risks and producing accurate project reporting.
The position requires strong experience in project planning and progress monitoring within major real estate, infrastructure or comparable projects.
Deployment will be subject to project requirements and client approval.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, maintain and monitor project schedules and planning programmes.
- Prepare and update project programmes based on project progress and approved requirements.
- Monitor actual progress against planned activities and key milestones.
- Identify delays, schedule risks, critical activities and potential impacts.
- Prepare progress reports and planning updates for project management.
- Coordinate planning information with engineering, construction, procurement and project teams.
- Review contractor programmes and progress submissions.
- Analyse schedule performance and identify areas requiring corrective action.
- Support preparation of recovery programmes and mitigation measures where required.
- Maintain accurate planning records, progress data and reporting documentation.
- Participate in project planning and progress meetings.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Provide planning inputs for project reporting, forecasting and management decision-making.
- Support project close-out and final progress reporting.
REQUIRED COMPETENCES
- Strong project planning, scheduling and progress-monitoring skills.
- Experience with major real estate, infrastructure or comparable projects.
- Strong understanding of project controls and schedule management.
- Ability to analyse progress and identify schedule risks and delays.
- Strong progress reporting and technical documentation skills.
- Experience reviewing contractor programmes and progress reports.
- Strong coordination skills across multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to work under project deadlines and changing requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification in planning/scheduling.
- Minimum 10 years of planning, monitoring and reporting experience.
- Minimum 6 years of Middle East experience.
- Experience in major real estate, infrastructure or comparable projects.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling and progress reporting.
- Strong understanding of project programme management and progress monitoring.
MUST-HAVES
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant planning/scheduling qualification.
- Minimum 10 years' relevant planning experience.
- Minimum 6 years' Middle East experience.
- Major real estate, infrastructure or comparable project planning experience.
GOOD-TO-HAVES
- Previous experience in Oman.
- Primavera P6 or comparable professional planning/scheduling software experience.
- Experience with major international energy-sector or industrial projects.
- Experience in client/consultant-side project controls, contractor programme review and recovery planning.
LOCATION
- Muscat, Oman, with initial assignment at the client's Muscat office/Mina Al Fahal area. Future deployment may be subject to project requirements.
