The opportunity
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee key accounting activities, ensure accurate financial reporting and support financial performance and strategic decision-making.
This opportunity is suited to a finance professional with a strong background in accounting, combined with hands-on experience in treasury management, banking operations and cash flow management, looking to take on a broad role within a dynamic retail environment.
Senior Accountant: Your responsibilities
You will oversee accounting operations and work closely with management and internal stakeholders to:
- Review journal entries and ensure accurate general ledger and subsidiary account reconciliations;
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes;
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports and cash flow statements;
- Analyse financial performance, expenditures and revenue, identifying variances and recommending improvements;
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections;
- Oversee treasury activities, cash flow management and banking operations;
- Manage Letters of Credit (LC), Letters of Guarantee (LG), banking and credit facilities, and foreign exchange risk;
- Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes;
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls;
- Ensure the accuracy of financial documentation and the proper recording of transactions;
- Supervise and support junior accounting team members, promoting accuracy and efficiency;
- Ensure adherence to applicable financial regulations, company policies and internal procedures.
Senior Accountant: Your profile
We are looking for a proactive and analytical finance professional with solid accounting expertise and practical experience in treasury and banking operations.
You will ideally bring:
- 5 to 7 years of relevant accounting experience, with progressive responsibilities;
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline;
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and closing procedures;
- Hands-on experience in treasury management, cash flow, banking facilities, LC/LG operations and foreign exchange risk management;
- Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls;
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills;
- Previous experience in Retail, Luxury Retail, F&B or a similar commercial environment would be an advantage;
- Experience supervising or guiding junior accounting staff;
- Excellent command of both English and Arabic;
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA or CMA would be an advantage;
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
