Process Owner – Forging & Ring Rolling
Role Purpose
Own and govern the end-to-end Forging and Ring Rolling manufacturing process for aerospace gas turbine engine components, covering method development, process qualification, production readiness, and ongoing process capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Own process definition, control strategy, parameters, control plans, standard work, and acceptance criteria.
- Lead forging and ring-rolling method development and capability prove-out.
- Plan and manage structured trials from development through qualification and production.
- Coordinate with equipment OEMs and technical partners.
- Provide technical input for equipment specification and procurement.
- Support supplier reviews, equipment installation, commissioning, and ramp-up.
- Support FPQ, FAI, readiness reviews, and production qualification.
- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for process issues.
- Drive Lean/Kaizen improvements to improve yield, reduce cycle time, and stabilise process capability.
- Monitor process performance and maintain effective interfaces across the full manufacturing process.
- Interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, material specifications, and OEM standards.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 8–10 years of experience in aerospace or high-spec metallic manufacturing.
- Substantial experience in forging and/or ring rolling is required.
- Experience in:
- Process industrialisation.
- Equipment commissioning support.
- Capability prove-out and qualification.
- Production readiness.
- Customer requirements, audits, and readiness reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials Engineering, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of forging/ring-rolling principles, parameters, and defect mechanisms.
- Knowledge of integrated process chains including heating, forging, ring rolling, cooling/quench, heat treatment, and inspection.
- Familiarity with process monitoring, automation, traceability, and advanced inspection/monitoring technologies.
- Knowledge of AS13100 and aerospace qualification requirements.
