The opportunity
EY's Cloud and Technology Consulting practice is expanding its hybrid cloud capability to serve enterprise, government and regulated-industry clients across the Middle East. We are looking for a Red Hat Engineer / Architect to help design, build, operate and improve Red Hat-based platforms across on-premises, hybrid and public cloud environments.
Based in Amman, this hands-on, client-facing role combines platform engineering, architecture, automation, reliability and governance. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate business, security and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Key responsibilities
Platform architecture and engineering
- Architect and implement Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform across on-premises data centres and public cloud, including multi-cluster and hybrid topologies.
- Design and maintain RHEL standard operating environments, including hardened images, patching baselines and lifecycle management using Red Hat Satellite.
- Build infrastructure automation using Ansible Automation Platform and GitOps tooling such as Argo CD and OpenShift GitOps.
- Design platform services including ingress, service mesh, API gateway integration, container registries, secrets management and certificate lifecycle.
- Define hybrid connectivity, workload placement and business continuity and disaster recovery patterns aligned with client requirements.
Operations and reliability
- Support day-two operations for production platforms, including cluster upgrades, capacity management, performance tuning and incident and problem management.
- Implement observability using Prometheus, Grafana, OpenShift monitoring and logging, with integration into enterprise SIEM and ITSM tooling.
- Define platform service levels, contribute to root-cause analysis and support continuous improvement.
- Develop operational runbooks, automated remediation and transition materials for client operations teams.
Open banking and digital platform enablement
- Provide platform foundations for API and microservices workloads, including high availability, mTLS, OAuth 2.0 security patterns, rate limiting and consent-management support.
- Help ensure platforms meet client expectations for availability, performance, auditability and data residency.
- Collaborate with API, integration and digital teams on non-functional requirements, environment strategy and CI/CD release pipelines.
Governance, risk and compliance
- Embed security and regulatory controls into platform design and operations in line with applicable client and industry frameworks.
- Implement compliance-as-code using OpenShift security controls, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security, Advanced Cluster Management policies and automated scanning.
- Support audits and regulatory reviews through control documentation, evidence preparation and remediation tracking.
- Maintain vulnerability and patch-management practices and contribute to cloud risk, data residency, sovereignty and third-party risk assessments.
Consulting delivery and practice contribution
- Participate in client workshops, design authority sessions and technical deep-dives, presenting recommendations to technology, architecture, security and risk stakeholders.
- Produce high-quality deliverables including high-level and low-level designs, architecture decision records, operating models and migration roadmaps.
- Contribute to proposals, solution shaping, estimates, demonstrations, proofs of concept and reusable reference architectures.
- Support the development of EY cloud and Red Hat capabilities through reusable assets, knowledge sharing and coaching of colleagues.

To qualify for the role
- 5 + years of relevant experience in infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering or solution architecture, including hands-on Red Hat OpenShift delivery and operations.
- Strong knowledge of RHEL, OpenShift, Ansible Automation Platform and Red Hat Satellite.
- Experience supporting hybrid environments spanning on-premises infrastructure and at least one public cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
- Solid Kubernetes knowledge across networking, storage, role-based access control and admission control.
- Experience applying security, risk, audit or compliance controls within enterprise or regulated environments.
- Understanding of API and microservices security patterns, including OAuth 2.0, OIDC and mTLS.
- Automation and scripting skills using Ansible, Bash or Python. Terraform knowledge is advantageous.
- Strong communication, structured problem-solving, documentation and stakeholder-management skills.
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience. Red Hat certifications are strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and spoken English. Arabic is advantageous.
Ideally, you'll also have
- Experience with Red Hat Advanced Cluster Management, Advanced Cluster Security, OpenShift Service Mesh, Quay or OpenShift Virtualization.
- Knowledge of private cloud technologies such as Red Hat OpenStack Platform.
- Experience with API management platforms hosted on OpenShift, such as 3scale, Apigee, Kong or Azure API Management.
- Cloud or architecture certifications, including Azure, AWS, Red Hat or TOGAF.
- Experience in a professional-services, systems-integration or technology-consulting environment.
- Experience contributing to RFP responses, solution estimates, demonstrations or client presentations.
