To strengthen our procurement organization, we are looking for a motivated Purchaser with an affinity for technology and the maritime industry, who is eager to further develop their skills within the procurement profession.
Job Overview: As our Purchaser, you will be responsible for operational purchasing and support tactical procurement activities for projects and the organization as a whole. You will work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Work Preparation, Finance, Logistics and other internal stakeholders.
You will request and evaluate quotations, compare suppliers, negotiate commercial terms, place purchase orders and monitor agreed commitments. We expect you to look beyond price alone. Lead times, quality, technical suitability, payment terms, contractual conditions and delivery risks are equally important.
You will increasingly manage procurement processes independently and contribute to tactical purchasing and supplier management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Request and evaluate quotations from existing and potential suppliers;
- Prepare commercial quotation comparisons and provide recommendations regarding supplier selection;
- Negotiate prices, lead times, payment terms and other commercial conditions;
- Place, confirm and administratively process purchase orders;
- Actively monitor order confirmations, delivery times and agreed commitments;
- Identify potential delays and escalate issues in a timely manner when project schedules are at risk;
- Support the procurement of technical materials, components, equipment and services;
- Ensure quotations and purchase orders align with technical specifications and internal requirements;
- Support supplier selection, evaluation and development;
- Maintain and improve supplier and procurement data;
- Support contract negotiations and document commercial agreements;
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and improvements to procurement processes;
- Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, Logistics, Finance and other relevant disciplines;
- Contribute to the further professionalization of Procurement & Supply Chain within SRC Netherlands.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- You have successfully completed an MBO Level 4 qualification or higher, or an equivalent level of education.
- Approximately 2–3 years of experience in procurement or a similar commercial role;
- An affinity for technology and an interest in technical products and projects;
- Basic knowledge of the procurement process, from quotation requests and supplier comparisons to ordering and delivery;
- Commercial awareness and a good understanding of costs;
- Strong communication and negotiation skills;
- Good command of both Dutch and English, verbally and in writing;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
A technical education is an advantage, but not a strict requirement. More important is your willingness to understand technical information, ask questions and learn quickly.

Success in This Role:
After your onboarding period, you will be expected to independently handle regular purchasing requests, actively follow up with suppliers and provide reliable procurement information to our projects.
As you develop in the role, you will increasingly manage procurement processes independently, conduct commercial negotiations, identify cost-saving opportunities and take greater responsibility for suppliers and procurement packages.
The ultimate goal is for you to move beyond simply processing orders and actively contribute to achieving better commercial agreements, reliable deliveries, effective supplier risk management and the continued professionalization of the procurement function at SRC Netherlands.
