At Verda, we're building a full-stack AI cloud, covering everything from data centers and hardware to our own cloud platform that the world's leading AI teams use to do serious AI work.
We strive to make a positive mark on the world through the infrastructure we build and give leading teams a service they can truly depend on. Headquartered in Helsinki, we operate globally with offices in London and San Francisco.
Join Verda while it’s still being built - not once it’s finished.
Why Verda
- Cash and equity compensation along with various fringe benefits
- Profitable operations with rapid, sustained growth.
- 40+ nationalities, with 6 different ones on the management team.
- A real chance to make an impact and work alongside world class engineers, researchers, and partners across the global AI ecosystem.
Practicalities
- Traveling: Frequent travel required.
- Employment type: Full-time and permanent.
About The RoleYou are the primary engine behind the physical expansion of our digital footprint. Your mission is to lead the end-to-end delivery of mission-critical infrastructure, ranging from large-scale greenfield build-outs to precision tenant fit-outs in global colocation facilities. You ensure that every megawatt of capacity is delivered safely, on time, and to the exacting standards required for high-density AI and cloud workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Lifecycle Ownership: Drive projects from initial site inception and design through procurement, construction, and final commissioning.
- Hybrid Project Execution: Concurrently manage a diverse portfolio, balancing multi-year, large-scale builds with fast-paced colocation fit-out projects.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Orchestration: Act as the central point of contact for internal engineering teams, general contractors, and colocation providers to ensure alignment on design intent and operational goals.
- Fit-out Precision: Oversee the installation of critical "white space" infrastructure—including power strips, overhead busways, containment systems, and liquid cooling manifolds—within active, live-data center environments.
- Risk & Budget Management: Proactively identify and mitigate delivery risks while maintaining rigid oversight of multi-million dollar capital budgets to prevent margin erosion.
- Quality & Safety Governance: Lead site walks and supervise integrated system testing (IST) to ensure all MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) and CSA (Civil, Structural, Architectural) packages meet zero-downtime reliability standards.
- Agile Resource Allocation: Ability to shift resources and priorities rapidly between major construction sites and smaller, high-velocity fit-out initiatives.
- Standardization Advocate: Contribute to the development of repeatable "deployment playbooks" and handover templates to streamline global expansions.
Ideal Background
Experience: 5+ years of project management experience in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, semiconductors, or pharma). Technical Knowledge: Solid grasp of data center core components, specifically power distribution, high-density cooling (Air/Liquid), and structured cabling.
General Skills & Personal Characteristics
To succeed in this team, candidates must look beyond their CAD screens and embrace a high-ownership, peer-to-peer collaboration style:
- Adaptive Problem Solvers: You don’t wait for a manual. When a 100kW rack presents a new thermal challenge, you iterate quickly and find a path forward.
- Radical Transparency: You communicate complex technical risks clearly and early. You value "getting it right" over "being right."
- Holistic Thinkers: Even if you are the Electrical Lead, you understand how a pipe leak affects a busbar. You design with the entire system in mind.
- Practical Visionaries: You have the "Grand Design" in your head but keep your feet on the ground—focusing on buildability, serviceability, and cost-efficiency.
- The "Helper Peer" Mentality: You treat your teammates as collaborators, not silos. You are willing to jump into a different discipline to help the team meet a deadline.
- Outcome-Oriented: You aren't just "doing engineering"; you are building the foundation for the future of AI. You take pride in seeing your container go from a drawing to a humming 1MW reality.
