About the Role
Media City Qatar is seeking an experienced Media & Editorial Compliance Lawyer to lead legal advice on media law, editorial standards, content regulation, intellectual property, and digital media compliance across its ecosystem of media companies, content creators, technology partners, and licensees.
The successful candidate will support Media City Qatar's mission to develop a world-class media hub by providing practical, commercially focused legal guidance and helping shape a robust compliance framework for the media sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on media law, editorial compliance, content standards, advertising, digital media, privacy, and intellectual property matters.
- Support Media City Qatar's regulatory and compliance initiatives and contribute to policy development.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial, content, licensing, technology, sponsorship, and partnership agreements.
- Advise on content production, distribution, rights clearance, and rights management matters.
- Support engagement with licensees, content creators, broadcasters, production companies, digital platforms, and regulators.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the media industry locally and internationally.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 6 to 10 years' PQE.
- Mandatory: Minimum 6 years of in-house legal experience within a leading international media, broadcasting, publishing, digital media, streaming, or entertainment organization.
- Strong expertise in media law, editorial compliance, content regulation, intellectual property, privacy, advertising, and digital media.
- Proven experience negotiating complex media, content, licensing, technology, and commercial agreements.
- Experience working in a fast-paced international media environment and advising senior stakeholders.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
