This is a chance to join an established international oil and gas business in Dubai, part of a global energy group, as Legal Counsel reporting to the General Counsel.
It's a varied, hands-on role with real responsibility. You'll work closely with the business, advise on a wide range of commercial and operational matters, and help develop the in-house legal function as the company grows.
What you'll be doing:
- Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements
- Giving practical legal advice across all areas of the business
- Assessing risk on new, complex or non-standard projects and finding commercial ways forward
- Supporting new entities and strategic transactions
- Developing standard-form documents and templates
- Spotting regulatory and compliance risks and helping to shape the policies that manage them
- Supporting disputes, arbitrations and claims, and helping to manage the litigation portfolio
- Advising on corporate governance, board matters and shareholder issues
What you'll bring:
- A law degree, and admission in a common law jurisdiction
- 5+ years in private practice or in-house, with experience in the oil and gas or energy sector
- A strong grasp of English law and a commercial, practical way of applying it
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working independently and as part of a small team
- Excellent written and spoken English and a sharp eye for detail
- You'll need to be based in the UAE
