Kuwait Finance House, Bahrain is looking for a Head, Group Investment Risk Management to manage the investment risk associated with the investment books of the bank, from credit, market and liquidity perspective. It is pivotal role which requires strong knowledge of fixed income, sukuk and other asset classes to provide the senior management with investment analysis and recommendations.
Risk Appetite and Governance:
- Define and review the investment risk appetite of the bank and its legal entities.
- Establish a strong risk governance and approval authorities in the bank for the purpose of risk driven investment process.
- Review the policies and the procedures applicable to Investment risk and suggest enhancement.
- Maintain an efficient collaboration with Market and Credit Risk Management and ensure the back up when needed.
Investment Proposal Credit Analysis:
- Lead the review of Investment proposal, assess the credit risks, highlight the concerns and limitations and provide risk recommendations.
- Complement the credit analysis with market and liquidity impacts (LSR, NSFR, EVE, CAR, VAR, etc.) based on in-depth analysis of the Investment proposal.
- Monitor the related risks on daily basis and provide a constructive analysis helping the bank in mitigating risks and comply with the approved risk appetite.
- Liaise with Treasury and Investment Desk to analyze the results and propose risk recommendations for risk mitigation purpose.
- Strive to enrich the measurements used for the analysis with new quantitative or qualitative indicators, adopted to the invested asset class (sukuk, equity, funds, etc.)
Risk Reporting and Analysis:
- Report on daily basis the risk in the investment books and track the limit compliance and ensure that reports are accurate, submitted on time and that all material variances are validated and understood.
- Report the Market to market and PnL drivers and analyze the moves
- Prepare the Investment Risk pack and coordinate with the stakeholders to get their inputs
- Liaise with KFH Kuwait and International Legal entities to consolidate the risk reports and maintain Group reporting to the committees and stakeholders.
- Review the investment portfolios on regular basis and update the Credit and Investment Committee on changes, new recommendations or proposed actions.
KFH Bahrain International Legal Entities:
- Develop with the Legal entities best practices for managing Investment Risk.
- Maintain a constant dialogue and reporting risk exposures from the legal entities.
- Work on common policies and procedures aligned with the KFH Group.
Management and Transformation:
- Lead the Investment Risk Management Unit and develop risk culture and KPIs with the direct reports.
- Evaluate and implement suitable solutions, such as risk management systems, data analytics tools, and reporting platforms, to enhance market risk management capabilites. Collaborate with IT teams and vendors to ensure seamless integration and efficient utilization of these technologies.
Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor/Master degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, Maths, Engineering or quantitative topics.
- Professionally qualified and recognized qualification – CFA/FRM/CQF/PRM/CPA is a plus.
- Experience in financial risk management minimum 10 to12 years in credit analysis.
- Experience in team management and stakeholders relationship management.
- Knowledge of systems e.g Bloomberg, Moodys, or Fixed Income risk systems would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong analytical skills would be a distinct advantage.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Good communication skills and ability to explain complex technical topics to non-specialized audience.
