Hardware Design Verification Engineer
About MLTP
MultiLane Test Products (MLTP), a Teradyne affiliate, develops high-speed I/O test solutions for the rapidly evolving AI and data center equipment market. The portfolio brings together high-speed electrical and optical instrumentation, application expertise, and scalable test approaches to help customers improve signal integrity, accelerate time to market, and reduce risk from development through production.
Position Summary
Plan and execute design verification testing for MLTP high-speed electrical and optical instruments. This hands-on role builds reliable test setups, validates prototypes against engineering requirements, identifies design weaknesses, and produces objective evidence that hardware is ready for qualification and release.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate product and subsystem requirements into traceable hardware DVT plans, procedures, acceptance criteria, and reports.
- Build, instrument, and maintain prototype test setups, fixtures, cable assemblies, loads, environmental configurations, and automated data-acquisition systems.
- Execute functional, parametric, margin, stress, thermal, power, clock, interface, signal-integrity, and fault-insertion testing at board and instrument level.
- Operate oscilloscopes, DMMs, power analyzers, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, TDRs, BERTs, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, and IR/temperature-acquisition equipment as applicable.
- Develop Python, LabVIEW, or equivalent automation for repeatable measurements, data logging, limit checking, regression execution, and report generation.
- Perform careful board bring-up, rework, probing, test-point access, schematic review, failure isolation, and component-level troubleshooting in partnership with design engineers.
- Document defects with reproducible conditions, logs, waveforms, photos, and measured evidence; verify corrective actions and regression coverage.
- Manage DVT equipment calibration, configuration, test assets, golden units, lab safety, ESD controls, and test-data integrity.
- Support compliance pre-screening, NPI builds, manufacturing-test correlation, and transfer of reusable methods to operations and sustaining teams.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree or BS in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, or related field, with experience level matched to technician or engineer classification.
- 3+ years of hands-on hardware validation, electronics test, board bring-up, or failure analysis for complex electronic products.
- Ability to read schematics, datasheets, layouts, test specifications, and mechanical drawings.
- Strong bench skills, including safe probing, soldering/rework, instrument configuration, and disciplined measurement practice.
- Working knowledge of analog, digital, power, clocking, thermal, and communication interfaces.
- Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with disciplined technical documentation.
- Commitment to product quality, customer success, engineering rigor, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience validating RF/microwave, high-speed serial, optical, or test-and-measurement products.
- Python or LabVIEW automation, Git, Jira, requirements traceability, and statistical data analysis.
- Familiarity with environmental, EMC pre-compliance, HALT, reliability, calibration, GR&R, and production test correlation.
