Muscat Elite is building a distinctive luxury automotive and private members’ club business in Oman, bringing together Elite Auto Studio, the Muscat Elite Car Club and the Muscat Elite Clubhouse.
We are looking for an experienced Finance & Accounts Manager to take complete ownership of the finance function across the business.
This is a hands-on, standalone finance role. You will be responsible for the integrity of the company's financial records, month-end close, VAT and tax compliance, payroll, cash flow, budgeting and management reporting.
A key part of the role is ownership of Odoo as Muscat Elite's single source of financial truth. You will be responsible not only for using Odoo, but for configuring and governing the platform, including working with Odoo.sh to manage development, staging and production environments.
There are no direct reports, so this role will suit someone who enjoys ownership, accountability and getting into the detail.
Key responsibilities
Odoo & Finance Systems
- Own Odoo as the live operational and financial platform for Muscat Elite.
- Manage Odoo.sh development and staging branches and promote approved changes into production.
- Configure and maintain the Chart of Accounts, fiscal positions, tax codes, journals, analytic accounts and payment terms.
- Configure and maintain Odoo Accounting, POS, Invoicing, Inventory, Purchase, Payroll and Employees modules.
- Establish analytic accounts across Auto Studio, Car Club and Clubhouse.
- Test updates and custom changes before they reach production.
- Manage user permissions and maintain appropriate segregation between finance, sales and operations.
- Monitor backups and undertake restore testing through Odoo.sh.
- Work with developers on integrations between Odoo, the Auto Studio application, Clubhouse application, Supabase and payment gateways.
- Maintain a clear configuration log so that system settings can be understood, audited and rebuilt.
Accounting & Financial Control
- Own the day-to-day accounting function across the business.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Process supplier bills, customer invoices, credit notes and expenses.
- Prepare payment runs for approval.
- Reconcile bank accounts, card acquirers and payment gateways.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and monthly depreciation.
- Manage inventory valuation covering PPF film, tint, ceramic coatings, consumables and F&B stock.
- Maintain petty cash and supporting documentation.
Point of Sale
- Configure POS environments across each business location.
- Maintain products, pricing, discounts, payment methods and receipts.
- Enforce appropriate discount authority levels.
- Reconcile daily POS activity against cash, card terminals and bank deposits.
- Investigate and resolve cash differences within 24 hours.
- Ensure the product and service catalogue remains accurate, including cost prices and VAT treatment.
Month-End & Reporting
- Deliver an accurate month-end close by working day 5.
- Post accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue, depreciation and payroll journals.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations.
- Coordinate stock counts and adjustments.
- Lock completed accounting periods in Odoo.
- Maintain a monthly close checklist and clear audit trail.
- Produce a monthly management pack by working day 7, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, KPIs and commentary.
- Report financial performance separately across Auto Studio, Car Club and Clubhouse.
- Build and maintain Odoo dashboards covering sales, cash, receivables and payables.
VAT, Tax & Payroll
- Prepare and submit VAT returns to the Oman Tax Authority.
- Reconcile VAT returns to the general ledger before submission.
- Ensure invoices comply with Oman VAT requirements.
- Apply the correct VAT treatment across memberships, services, goods, imports and exports.
- Manage applicable municipality and tourism taxes relating to Clubhouse F&B.
- Prepare corporate income tax workings and returns alongside the external tax adviser.
- Manage withholding tax obligations relating to foreign suppliers.
- Run monthly payroll through Odoo Payroll.
- Ensure salaries are processed through the Wages Protection System (WPS) on time.
- Calculate and manage Social Protection Fund contributions.
- Maintain end-of-service and leave provisions.
- Manage joiners, leavers, final settlements, allowances, overtime and deductions.
Cash Flow, Budgeting & Forecasting
- Produce a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast, updated weekly.
- Produce a 12-month cash flow forecast, updated monthly.
- Maintain visibility of the daily cash position across all bank accounts.
- Identify potential cash shortfalls at least four weeks in advance.
- Manage payment timing while maintaining strong supplier relationships.
- Build annual budgets for each business unit alongside management.
- Load budgets into Odoo against the relevant analytic accounts.
- Produce monthly budget-versus-actual reporting and explain material variances.
- Update the full-year forecast quarterly.
- Support pricing and profitability analysis, including gross profit per job and overhead per bay day.
Controls, Audit & Governance
- Maintain appropriate segregation of duties and approval controls.
- Ensure no payment is released without the required approval.
- Maintain the company's spend and payment approval matrix.
- Prepare the year-end audit file and lead the external statutory audit process.
- Track trade licences, commercial registrations and tax registrations.
- Develop and maintain finance procedures across the business.
- Identify and immediately escalate control weaknesses or potential fraud risks.
What we're looking for
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- ACCA, CPA, CMA or CA qualified, or in the final stage of qualification.
- At least 5 years' hands-on accounting experience, including 3+ years running full-cycle accounting.
- At least 3 years' hands-on Odoo experience, using version 16 or later.
- Strong practical experience across Odoo Accounting, POS, Inventory and Payroll.
- Experience configuring Odoo from scratch, including Chart of Accounts, taxes, journals, analytic accounts and access rights.
- Working knowledge of Odoo.sh, including branches, staging, deployments, logs and backups.
- Experience filing VAT returns in Oman or another GCC country.
- Experience running payroll through Oman WPS and Social Protection Fund processes.
- Strong Excel skills, particularly for forecasting and budgeting.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Currently based in Muscat, Oman.
- Available to start within 4 weeks.
Desirable
- Odoo Functional Certification.
- Experience within retail, automotive services, hospitality, F&B or private members' clubs.
- Experience with membership accounting and deferred revenue.
- Basic Python or Odoo Studio knowledge.
- Experience integrating Odoo with other systems through APIs.
- Arabic language skills.
The person
We are looking for someone who takes genuine ownership of the numbers and does not wait to be told what needs doing.
You will be precise, commercially aware and comfortable working independently. You should be able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance managers, meet deadlines without being chased and raise issues early when something does not look right.
This is a role for someone who wants to own the finance function and the underlying systems, rather than simply process transactions.
