Job Title: Façade Estimation Engineer
About the Role:
VCE is seeking a Façade Estimation Engineer to prepare accurate cost estimates and technical and commercial proposals for façade and building envelope works.
The role requires an understanding of façade systems and the ability to translate drawings, specifications and project requirements into reliable quantities, detailed cost breakdowns and clearly defined tender submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review architectural and structural drawings, façade specifications, BOQs and tender documents to establish the scope of work.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and material breakdowns for curtain walls, aluminium windows and doors, glazing and cladding systems.
• Develop detailed estimates covering materials, accessories, finishes, fabrication, labour and installation.
• Request supplier and subcontractor quotations and evaluate them against project specifications and scope requirements.
• Prepare quotation comparisons, identifying differences in quantities, technical compliance, inclusions, exclusions and commercial terms.
• Identify scope gaps, interfaces, ambiguities and potential cost risks, and prepare clarification queries.
• Coordinate with design and engineering teams to confirm technical assumptions and assess alternative solutions.
• Support value engineering studies by evaluating the cost implications of proposed materials, systems and details.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals, including cost summaries, assumptions, qualifications and exclusions.
• Update estimates in response to design revisions, tender clarifications and supplier feedback.
• Maintain organised estimation records, supplier quotations, cost benchmarks and pricing databases.
Qualifications and Experience:
• A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in façade estimation, tendering, quantity surveying or technical office work.
• Technical knowledge of curtain walls, aluminium systems, glazing, cladding and associated components.
• An understanding of façade fabrication processes, installation methods and their cost implications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
• Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications and construction details.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills, with attention to accuracy and scope completeness.
• Clear communication and coordination skills when working with suppliers, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to organise multiple tender packages and meet submission deadlines.
