About the organisation
Our client is an established engineering organisation operating in the maritime and high-tech engineering sector. The company specialises in the design, engineering and integration of complex electrical and automation systems for large-scale vessels and other technically advanced projects.
The organisation works on both new-build projects and modifications, upgrades and maintenance throughout the lifecycle of the systems. Due to the highly customised nature of the projects, engineers work on technically challenging assignments where reliability, quality and innovation are key.
For the Engineering department in the Rotterdam region, we are currently looking for a Key User EPLAN / Electrical Engineer. This is a full-time position.
The position
As a Key User EPLAN, your role consists of two main areas.
Your primary responsibility will be to support and guide engineers in the effective use of EPLAN. You will provide training, manage components, templates and macros, and continuously look for ways to improve engineering processes and standards.
Alongside your Key User responsibilities, you will work as an Electrical Engineer on engineering projects. This means you will remain actively involved in the technical design and development of electrical systems.
You will work closely with the Application Manager and Engineering Manager to improve engineering efficiency and further develop the way EPLAN is used within the organisation.
You will contribute to the development of standards, libraries and working methods and actively encourage engineers to adopt improved and more efficient ways of working. You will also provide training to both experienced engineers and new team members.
Your responsibilities as Key User EPLAN
- Supporting and assisting electrical engineers with EPLAN-related questions and challenges.
- Acting as the first point of contact for EPLAN-related matters within the engineering department.
- Advising colleagues on more efficient and effective ways of working with EPLAN.
- Keeping colleagues informed about developments, improvements and changes to tools and working methods.
- Creating, maintaining and managing EPLAN macros.
- Maintaining and further developing the EPLAN component and symbol libraries.
- Continuously improving the use of EPLAN within engineering processes.
- Supporting the integration of single-line and multi-line diagrams and associated reports within projects.
- Ensuring that changes made within engineering documentation are correctly reflected across related documentation.
- Reviewing new components created by engineers and ensuring that all relevant information is complete and correctly structured.
- Coordinating with the EPLAN administrator and other EPLAN key users regarding developments, upgrades and standardisation.
- Providing internal training on new EPLAN functionalities and working methods.
- Providing hands-on support and training to newly hired engineers.
Requirements
We are looking for a creative and solution-oriented specialist who works accurately and in a structured manner.
You are comfortable sharing your knowledge with colleagues and enjoy improving engineering processes. You have strong communication skills and are able to explain technical subjects clearly to both experienced engineers and less experienced users.
You have:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional working and thinking level in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least 4 years of experience designing electrical installations using EPLAN.
- A strong interest in continuously improving the way EPLAN is used within an engineering environment.
- Experience with EPLAN libraries, components, templates and macros.
- EPLAN training or certification is an advantage.
- An affinity with maritime engineering or other complex technical environments.
- Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- A structured and accurate approach to your work.
- A proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
- A passion for engineering and technology.
What you can expect
You will join a technically driven engineering environment where you will have a combination of specialist EPLAN responsibilities and hands-on electrical engineering work.
The position offers the opportunity to have a direct impact on engineering processes and standards while remaining closely involved in challenging technical projects.
You will work with experienced engineers and have the opportunity to further develop your technical expertise, EPLAN knowledge and engineering skills.
