The Cosmetic Manufacturing & Formulation Specialist will be responsible for developing, testing, improving and manufacturing cosmetic and personal care formulations, including body creams, hair creams, soaps, oils, lotions, and other related products. The role involves working with raw materials, production and chemicals, ensuring product quality and stability, and maintaining proper formulation and testing records.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and formulate new cosmetic and personal care products according to product requirements and specifications.
- Prepare and test formulations for creams, hair creams, lotions, liquid and solid soaps, oils, and other cosmetic products.
- Select suitable raw materials, ingredients, preservatives, fragrances, colors, emulsifiers, surfactants, and other chemical components.
- Have practical hands-on experience in the manufacturing and production of cosmetic and personal care products, not only formulation development.
- Conduct laboratory trials, samples, and formulation adjustments to achieve the required product performance, appearance, texture, stability, and quality.
- Operate and understand the manufacturing process of cosmetic products from raw material preparation and weighing through mixing, heating, cooling, homogenization, and final processing as applicable to each product.
- Work closely with the Production team to ensure that formulations are practical, manufacturable, and suitable for production equipment. Understand and control the correct order of addition, mixing time, temperature, speed, and processing conditions required for different cosmetic products.
- Test the compatibility and performance of raw materials and finished formulations.
- Conduct stability and basic quality tests on formulations and finished products.
- Troubleshoot formulation problems such as separation, viscosity changes, instability, odor, color changes, or other quality issues.
- Maintain accurate records of formulations, laboratory trials, test results, raw material usage, and formulation changes.
- Ensure that chemicals and raw materials are handled, stored, and used safely and according to company procedures.
- Follow laboratory, chemical handling, personal hygiene, and occupational safety procedures.
- Support the development of new products and improvement of existing products based on customer or market requirements.
- Investigate formulation and production issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper housekeeping of the laboratory and formulation area.
- Coordinate with Purchasing when new raw materials or ingredients are required for formulation and development.
- Perform any other duties related to formulation, product development, and chemical laboratory activities as assigned by management.
Skills
- Filipino nationality
- 3-5 years of Practical experience in manufacturing cosmetic products.
- Good knowledge of cosmetic raw materials and their applications.
- Good understanding of chemical handling.
- Ability to conduct laboratory experiments, analyze results, and troubleshoot formulation problems.
- Ability to develop and improve formulations according to product requirements
