About the role
NAC / Skyline is building Sentinel from first principles, and we are looking for a Chief Engineer / Chief
Technology Officer to provide enterprise-level technical leadership from clean-sheet design through certification,
industrialization and entry into service.
This is a founding-executive role for a builder, technical authority and accountable owner who is comfortable
operating at the intersection of engineering, certification, industrialization, capital allocation and company strategy.
The role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and works closely with the founding leadership team.
The mission
Own the technical integrity, configuration and engineering execution of Sentinel ensuring that the aircraft we design
is technically coherent, certifiable, manufacturable, maintainable and economically viable.
Core Mandate
• Serve as enterprise technical authority for aircraft architecture, requirements, configuration and engineering decision-
making.
• Translate mission requirements into a certifiable, manufacturable, maintainable and economically viable aircraft.
• Build and lead the engineering organization across aerodynamics, structures, propulsion / hybrid-energy systems,
flight controls, avionics, systems engineering, software, test and integration.
• Establish rigorous design-review, requirements-management, configuration-control and technical-risk processes.
• Integrate certification constraints early with the Chief Airworthiness & Certification Officer; engineering and
certification must mature concurrently.
• Own technology sovereignty decisions with the CEO: what NAC/Skyline must own, control, partner, buy or license.
• Drive prototype, conforming-aircraft and flight-test readiness while resisting schedule commitments unsupported by
evidence.
• Partner with Industrial & Supply Chain leadership on design-for-manufacture, make/buy strategy, critical suppliers
and production-system maturity.
• Develop technical talent and succession depth; create a culture where adverse technical evidence travels quickly.
First 12-Month Priorities
• Baseline Sentinel system architecture, requirements and top technical risks.
• Establish configuration authority, engineering governance and design-review cadence.
• Create integrated engineering / certification / test maturity plan.
• Complete preliminary technology-sovereignty and critical-dependency maps.
• Define Core15 / First50 engineering organization and priority hires.
• Produce credible development-resource and capital requirements tied to evidence gates.
What we’re looking for
• Proven senior engineering leadership on a clean-sheet or substantially new certificated aircraft, rotorcraft, powered-
lift or similarly complex aerospace system.
Prepared Boldness with optionality engineered into the plan.
INITIATIVE HORIZON | NAC / SKYLINE | CONFIDENTIAL
• Deep systems-engineering judgment across multidisciplinary aircraft development; hybrid-electric / propulsion
experience strongly valued.
• Demonstrated experience moving hardware from concept through design, test, conformity / certification and
production readiness.
• Experience working directly with civil aviation authorities and certification organizations.
• Track record building high-performance engineering teams under schedule and capital constraints.
• Exceptional technical judgment, intellectual honesty and ability to make hard tradeoffs without compromising safety.
What Success Looks Like
A technically coherent Sentinel configuration whose maturity, evidence and resource requirements are understood — with
no gap between what engineering believes and what the company can prove.
Leadership Behaviors
• Radical truth and transparency; escalates bad news early.
• Evidence over optimism; no schedule or performance claims that outrun proof.
• Enterprise-first judgment; challenges peers without creating functional silos.
• Capital discipline; builds only what the next risk-retirement gate requires.
• Develops successors and transfers capability rather than accumulating personal dependency.
• Lives the Initiative Horizon doctrine: Vision. Discipline. Execution. Prepared Boldness.
Why join us
This is an opportunity to join the founding leadership team and help shape an aircraft program from the ground
up including its technical architecture, engineering organization, development discipline and long-term
technology Document setup. This is an opportunity to help define both the aircraft and the institution that
will build it. You will have the opportunity to influence not only what we build, but how we build it.
Vision. Discipline. Execution. Prepared Boldness.
