We are looking for an accountant based in Berlin for Readly/Cafeyn Group, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, reliability and compliance of accounting operations across our international subsidiaries.
You will work closely with Readly/Cafeyn Management, local accounting firms and our unified accounting provider, covering entities across Europe, North America and Morocco.
This is a hands-on and international role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across multiple entities, coordinating with different stakeholders and ensuring high-quality financial information.
Your missions* Bookkeeping & P2P
* Manage the bookkeeping of expenses through our P2P system, Payhawk.
* Ensure all expenses are accurately posted and coded in line with the Readly/Cafeyn Core Model Chart of Accounts.
* Ensure the correct analytical allocation of expenses by entity, market and team.
* Ensure the quality and accuracy of accounting data before closing.
* Reporting Packages & Monthly Closing
* Review reporting packages received from our local accountants across our international entities: Netherlands, UK, Canada, US and Morocco.
* Identify discrepancies, inconsistencies or missing information and follow up with local accountants.
* Contribute to the monthly closing of the German entity.
* Ensure reporting packages are complete, accurate and delivered on time.
* Support the identification and resolution of accounting issues and adjustments.
* Coordination with Local Accountants
* Maintain clear, responsive and precise communication with local accounting firms across our different countries.
* Follow up on accounting, tax and social compliance requirements.
* Ensure the quality and reliability of local financial statements.
* Coordinate with local accountants to resolve accounting questions and ensure deadlines are met.
* Transition to the Unified Accounting Provider
* Coordinate with Readly/Cafeyn Management the transition from our current local accounting firms to the unified provider responsible for financial and tax compliance.
* Support the smooth transition of accounting processes, documentation and historical data.
* Ensure continuity of accounting operations throughout the transition.
* Help standardise processes and improve the consistency and quality of financial reporting across entities.
* Reconciliations
* Prepare and review accurate and fully documented bank, tax and intercompany reconciliations.
* Investigate and resolve significant unexplained variances.
* Ensure consistency and accuracy of intra-group flows.
* Maintain clear supporting documentation for all reconciliations.
* Audit Preparation
* Prepare complete, structured and timely audit files.
* Coordinate with local accountants and auditors to provide the required supporting documentation.
* Facilitate both local statutory audits and Group consolidation audits.
* Anticipate potential issues and ensure there are no blocking points during the audit process.
* Subsidiary Review & Permanent File
* Prepare a complete review file for each foreign subsidiary.
* Maintain and regularly update the permanent file, including:
+ Accounting processes
+ Local tax and accounting obligations
+ Legal documentation
+ Accounting history
- Ensure accounting continuity and preserve relevant historical financial information.
What We're Looking For
- * 2–3 years of experience in an international accounting firm, ideally working with multiple entities or international clients.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, bookkeeping and financial reporting.
- Experience with monthly closing and account reconciliations.
- Experience working with external/local accountants is a strong plus.
- Comfortable working with accounting systems and digital finance tools; experience with “purchase to pay” tools such as Payhawk is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage several entities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proactive and autonomous approach, with the ability to identify issues and follow them through to resolution.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with external accounting providers.
- Fluent English is mandatory, as you will work daily with international stakeholders.
