Position Summary:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Records Reviewer to support healthcare operations for a US pain management practice. You will review medical summary documents, transcribe clinical information into patient charts, and keep records accurate and up to date within the Athena EHR system.
This role suits someone precise and self-directed who is comfortable handling a high volume of records and confidential patient information.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern Time (40 hours per week)
Key Responsibilities
- Review medical summary documents and clinical records for accuracy and completeness.
- Accurately transcribe and enter medical information into patient charts.
- Update and maintain patient records within the Athena EHR system.
- Verify that patient information is correctly reflected in the electronic medical record.
- Identify missing, inconsistent, or unclear information and flag items needing clarification.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow HIPAA and applicable healthcare privacy requirements.
- Manage assigned records efficiently while meeting accuracy expectations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be a Qualified Health Professional (QHP) with the required certification from a recognized U.S. institution.
- U.S.-based QHP certification is mandatory.
- Previous experience in medical records, medical documentation, healthcare administration, or a related healthcare field.
- Experience working with an EHR system, preferably Athena.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling medical information.
- Ability to understand and accurately transcribe medical terminology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable handling confidential patient information professionally.
- Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of records.

Preferred Qualities:
- Prior experience as a Medical Records Specialist, Medical VA, Medical Transcriptionist, or Healthcare Administrative Assistant.
- Familiarity with HIPAA requirements and patient privacy standards.
- Knowledge of common medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
