An exciting opportunity for a Counterparty Credit Risk Officer to join a growing international commodities trading business based in Dubai. This role is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and mitigating counterparty credit risk across trading activities while ensuring strong risk controls support commercial growth and business objectives.

Conduct detailed credit assessments of customers, suppliers, and trading counterparties

Analyse financial statements, payment history, market intelligence, and credit risk indicators

Prepare credit proposals and recommendations for internal approval processes

Manage the end-to-end counterparty onboarding and credit approval process

Maintain and review approved credit limits, ensuring timely renewals and updates
-
Monitor daily counterparty exposures, receivables, and prepayments against approved limits

Identify, escalate, and track limit excesses, breaches, and exceptions

Support overdue receivables management in collaboration with finance and trade finance teams

Assist with credit-insured receivables programmes, including reporting and stakeholder coordination

Submit spot credit approval requests for trading opportunities requiring urgent assessment

Maintain and update approved counterparty databases within trading and risk systems

Produce daily, weekly, and monthly exposure and credit risk reports

Extract, reconcile, and analyse data from ERP, ETRM, and internal reporting systems

Investigate discrepancies and improve the accuracy and integrity of risk data

Support negotiations relating to supplier open account facilities and credit arrangements
-
Reconcile supplier exposures and communicate available capacity to internal stakeholders

Drive reporting automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce manual processing

Develop and enhance risk reporting tools, dashboards, and controls

Partner with IT teams on system improvements, automation projects, and data quality initiatives

Work closely with trading, finance, legal, compliance, treasury, and risk teams across multiple locations

Support the implementation of robust credit risk management processes and governance standards

Provide timely risk insights and recommendations to support commercial decision-making

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field

Mandatory UAE experience within credit risk, credit analysis, trade finance, or risk management

3 to 5 years of relevant experience in counterparty credit risk or credit analysis

Commodity trading experience is highly preferred

Experience within a commodity trading house, energy company, or financial institution supporting trade finance activities

Strong financial statement analysis and credit assessment skills

Knowledge of trade finance instruments including LCs, SBLCs, guarantees, and credit insurance

Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, Power Query, and complex formulas
-
Experience using Power BI, SQL, Python, or similar reporting and analytics tools

Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
