Overall Objective of the Job:
The Heavy Equipment Service Engineer is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and commissioning of heavy machinery and construction equipment. The role ensures that equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently while minimizing downtime and maintenance costs.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy equipment, including excavators, wheel loaders, bulldozers, graders, cranes, forklifts, and other mobile machinery.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and maintenance schedules.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic, and engine-related faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Conduct equipment commissioning, testing, calibration, and performance evaluations.
- Analyze equipment failures and identify root causes to prevent recurring problems.
- Carry out engine, transmission, hydraulic system, braking, steering, undercarriage, and electrical system repairs.
- Read and interpret hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and technical drawings and service manuals.
- Prepare service reports, inspection reports, maintenance records, and failure analysis documentation.
- Coordinate with operators, maintenance teams, suppliers, and manufacturers to resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical support and guidance to technicians and equipment operators.
- Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with safety procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable standards.
- Monitor spare-parts requirements and recommend replacement of worn or defective components.
- Support field service activities and respond to emergency equipment breakdowns when required.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment condition, operating hours, repairs, and maintenance history.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures to increase equipment availability, reliability, and service life.
- Train operators and technicians on proper equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5 -10 years of experience in servicing and maintaining heavy equipment or construction machinery.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, electrical systems, and heavy equipment controls.
- Ability to use diagnostic instruments and manufacturer-specific service software.
- Ability to read technical drawings, hydraulic circuits, electrical schematics, and service manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Customer satisfaction records abilities.
- Advanced Englsih language skills.
