Field Service Engineer – IT & NetworkingPosition Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer – IT & Networking with practical experience in Linux systems, networking, troubleshooting, SQL reporting, Microsoft Excel, and Power BI.
The successful candidate will support day-to-day IT operations, troubleshoot Linux and network issues, work with databases and SQL reporting, and prepare clear operational and management reports using Advanced Excel and Power BI.
This role requires a practical problem-solver with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.
Key ResponsibilitiesLinux Administration
- Perform day-to-day administration and troubleshooting of Linux-based systems and terminals.
- Work confidently with the Linux command line/terminal.
- Manage users, permissions, processes, services, packages, and system logs.
- Perform basic Linux configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Networking & Troubleshooting
- Configure and troubleshoot Linux network connectivity.
- Troubleshoot TCP/IP, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, and basic LAN/WAN issues.
- Follow a structured troubleshooting methodology and document root causes and solutions.
SQL & Reporting
- Write SQL queries to extract and analyze data from databases.
- Develop and maintain SQL-based operational and management reports.
- Validate, analyze, summarize, and transform database information into meaningful KPIs.
- Connect and transfer SQL data to Excel and/or Power BI for further analysis and visualization.
Microsoft Excel & Power BI
- Develop advanced Excel reports, dashboards, and data analysis.
- Use advanced Excel formulas and functions.
- Support data visualization and reporting using Power BI.
Technical Support & Documentation
- Investigate technical incidents and identify root causes.
- Provide practical technical solutions and follow issues through resolution.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Prepare technical and operational reports.
QualificationsEducation
- Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields or a related discipline:
- Computer Engineering
- Network Engineering
- Telecommunications Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Information Systems
Required Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant practical IT experience.
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems and networking.
- Practical experience with SQL queries and reporting.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
- Basic-to-intermediate experience with Power BI.
- CCNA or CCNP certification is a plus.
