Role Description The Director role is a full-time, remote position responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight for designated programs, departments, or initiatives at Uppsala University. In this role, the Director will define goals and priorities, align activities with the university’s mission, and ensure effective planning, budgeting, and performance monitoring. The Director will collaborate with academic leaders, administrative staff, and external partners; lead meetings; review reports and proposals; and make data-informed decisions to support teaching, research, and outreach. Daily tasks include guiding teams, managing resources, overseeing key projects, ensuring compliance with university policies and relevant regulations, and fostering an inclusive and collegial work culture. The Director will also represent the university in remote conferences, strategic discussions, and stakeholder engagements, while maintaining clear communication channels across geographically dispersed teams.
Qualifications

- Strong skills in communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement, with the ability to collaborate across academic and administrative units.
- Experience with remote work environments, including digital collaboration tools, virtual meeting facilitation, and distributed team coordination.
- Proven ability in project and program management, including budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, and performance evaluation.
- Background in higher education, research administration, or a comparable knowledge-intensive organization is highly desirable.
