The role
As an Estimator, you're the link between design and execution: you translate drawings, specifications, and tender documents for medical construction projects into sharp, well-founded cost estimates and bids. You work on complex, technically challenging projects such as operating rooms, cleanrooms, and laboratories, working closely with project managers, planners, procurement, and subcontractors. You're at home in both traditional and modular construction methods and know how to translate the specific requirements of medical construction,from cleanroom classification to GMP standards,into a realistic, competitive estimate.
You're based in Nieuwegein; the projects you estimate for are spread across the country.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates and budgets for medical construction projects, from concept design through final design;
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and technical documents; request and review supplier and subcontractor quotes;
- Estimate both traditional construction projects and modular construction concepts;
- Flag risks, ambiguities, and optimization opportunities in design and execution;
- Work closely with project managers, planners, and procurement during handover of awarded projects;
- Draft clear, compelling proposals and tender documents;
- Track market prices, standards (NEN, GMP, ISO cleanroom classes), and developments in medical construction;
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
Your profile
- Demonstrable construction experience is required; experience in medical and/or modular construction is a strong plus;
- Vocational/bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field;
- Roughly 3–7 years' experience as an estimator in construction, ideally in healthcare or pharma;
- Knowledge of Electrical and HVAC is a strong plus;
- Experience with estimating software (e.g. RAB, Bexcom, or similar);
- Precise, analytical, and strong with numbers, with an eye for detail and risk;
- Strong communication skills for coordinating internally and with suppliers/subcontractors;
- Already based in the Netherlands — no visa sponsorship required;
- Good command of English; willing to learn Dutch (or already doing so).
What's offered
A salary range of €4,000–€6,500 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on knowledge and experience, excluding holiday allowance and other benefits.
