Main Duties
- Maintain the aquarium section in accordance with company policies, standards, and procedures.
- Perform routine water testing and maintain water parameters within acceptable levels.
- Carry out aquarium maintenance including water changes, algae removal, substrate cleaning, filter cleaning, equipment maintenance, and tank cleaning.
- Monitor the condition of fish and aquatic livestock and report any illness, injury, or abnormalities to the line manager.
- Receive, inspect, acclimate, and quarantine incoming livestock.
- Maintain quarantine systems and administer approved treatments when required.
- Record livestock deaths, maintain livestock and treatment records.
- Feed fish and aquatic livestock according to feeding schedules.
- Operate, maintain, and report faults on pumps, filters, heaters, lighting, chillers, UV units, and other aquarium equipment.
- Receive and stock aquatic livestock, aquarium equipment, and related products.
- Ensure aquarium displays remain clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Assist customers with selecting fish, aquarium equipment, and accessories.
- Advise customers on aquarium setup, filtration, water quality, fish compatibility, feeding, and general aquarium maintenance.
- Catch, bag, and prepare live fish and aquatic livestock for customer purchase.
- Perform scheduled contractual aquarium maintenance at customer locations.
- Respond to emergency on-call maintenance requests and resolve aquarium-related issues at customer sites.
- Assist with aquarium installation, dismantling, relocation, transportation, and reinstallation.
- Maintain service records and report completed work.
- Maintain cleanliness of the aquarium section, work area, and equipment.
- Assist customers with enquiries and resolve customer concerns where appropriate.
- Lead and support the team in the absence of the line manager (seniority responsibility).
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of freshwater and marine aquarium filtration and life support systems.
- Understanding of water quality testing, water chemistry, and aquarium cycling.
- Knowledge of freshwater and marine fish species, corals, aquatic plants, and their compatibility and care requirements.
- Knowledge of common aquatic diseases, quarantine procedures, and basic treatment methods.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to use basic hand tools and work with aquarium chemicals safely.
- Physically able to lift up to 25 kg and perform duties involving standing, bending, climbing ladders, and carrying equipment.
- Available to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and emergency on-call duties.
- Good spoken and written English.
- Valid driving license and Arabic proficiency are a bonus.
Professional Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in aquarium maintenance, aquatic livestock, or the pet industry is mandatory.
- Basic mathematical and admin skills.
- Willingness to learn company procedures and product knowledge through on-the-job training.
