Take technical ownership of an industrial safety platform and build the engineering function around it.
ABOUT NASHID
Nashid is building identity infrastructure for the industrial sector: oil and gas, construction and utilities. Its current product, Nashid Permit, is a digital permit to work for industrial sites: a required step cannot be skipped, every signature is a named person with a PIN, and every live permit is visible in one place. Next, Nashid connects the work to the people doing it through verifiable credentials and digital wallets.
THE ROLE
Nashid Permit is being built by an external development partner on Laravel. As the Head of Engineering, you take technical ownership of the platform through launch, write code alongside the partner's team, and bring the platform fully in-house. You report to the CEO.
THE STACK
Laravel and PHP, Inertia.js with Vue 3 (a monolith, not a separate API), PostgreSQL with one isolated database per tenant, Azure after handover, GitHub. Mobile is a progressive web app on the same codebase; a native app and a public API come later.
YOUR FIRST 45 DAYS
• Learn the codebase end to end and start shipping code alongside the development partner
• Review the architecture, data model and code quality, and agree fixes with the partner
• Plan the move to Azure with our DevOps engineer: environments, deployments, access, backups
• Set the release process for launch and the first customer pilots
YOUR FIRST 12 MONTHS
• Lead the handover from the development partner: documentation, knowledge transfer and access, with no gaps
• Prepare the platform for enterprise customers: per-tenant isolation, single sign-on, audit trails, penetration testing, and a path to ISO certifications
• Deliver the mobile experience (PWA, push, offline reading) and the first integrations
• Hire and lead a small in-house engineering team
• Work directly with the CEO on the roadmap, turning product requirements into architecture decisions
WHAT YOU BRING
• 8+ years in software engineering, including 3+ years leading a team or owning a production platform
• Deep, hands-on Laravel and PHP experience in production
• PostgreSQL in production, and Vue 3 or a comparable modern frontend framework
• Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar), and the judgement to review, test and secure what they produce
• Experience taking over a codebase built by someone else, and stabilising it
• Multi-tenant B2B SaaS and sound security practice
• Clear written English, and comfort working remotely with a Gulf-based team (Sunday to Thursday, with overlap on Muscat hours)
NICE TO HAVE
• Building AI features into products (LLM APIs, agents)
• Industrial, field-operations or health and safety software
• Progressive web apps, push notifications and offline-first design
• Arabic
WHAT WE OFFER
• Fully remote, full-time, competitive salary
• Direct line to the CEO and real ownership of the platform
• The chance to build the engineering function for this product
