Description of duties
- Support the implementation of WHO’s climate change and health agenda, with a focus on climate-resilient health systems and environmental sustainability.
- Contribute to climate-resilient Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions within health vulnerability and adaptation assessments and health facility Water Safety Plans.
- Assist in conducting assessments and capacity-building activities on climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable health facilities using WHO tools and guidance.
- Support the development of climate and health policy briefs, including the collection and analysis of health, environmental, and economic data.
- Contribute to the review and implementation of health-sector adaptation plans and the development of medium- and long-term climate adaptation actions.
- Develop, adapt, and test health promotion and risk communication materials in Arabic and English on climate and health issues.
- Support the development of a national heat-health action plan and communication activities related to heat-wave early warning systems.
- Engage youth networks, volunteers, community-based organizations, and relevant stakeholders in climate and health initiatives.
- Organize and deliver training sessions, workshops, and awareness activities on climate change, health promotion, and environmental health.
- Support planning, budgeting, procurement follow-up, monitoring, reporting, documentation, and communication activities, including preparation of technical reports, donor reports, presentations, success stories, and social media content.
Profile requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Health Promotion, Climate Change, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in public health, environmental health, health promotion, climate change, or related areas, including programme implementation with government, UN, or non-governmental partners.
- Experience in health promotion, risk communication, community engagement, or climate and health initiatives.
- Knowledge of climate change and health topics such as vulnerability and adaptation assessments, climate-resilient WASH, heat-health action plans, and sustainable health facilities.
- Experience organizing multi-stakeholder consultations, workshops, trainings, and technical meetings.
- Familiarity with Jordan’s health system and national institutions; previous experience with WHO or the UN system is an asset.
- Strong analytical, research, communication, drafting, and reporting skills in Arabic and English.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital information management tools.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and contribute to public health and sustainable development objectives.
- Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
