Job Summary:
As a Commis II, you will assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes in accordance with established standards. You will support the smooth daily operation of the kitchen by working closely with the Commis I, Chef de Partie,ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency in all aspects of food preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare ingredients and perform basic cooking duties such as chopping, mixing, marinating, and portioning.
- Assist senior chefs in cooking and plating dishes according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure mise en place is completed for your assigned section before each service period.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, utensils, and equipment.
- Follow food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP) at all times.
- Store food items properly, label, and rotate stock to minimize wastage.
- Support kitchen team in daily operations and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries to ensure quality and quantity standards are met.
- Learn and develop new skills, techniques, and menu items as guided by supervisors.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional training.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a professional kitchen (preferably hotel, restaurant, or lounge).
- Knowledge of basic cooking methods and kitchen operations.
- Excellent hygiene practices and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and within a multicultural team.
- Good communication skills and a proactive, positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic hospitality environment.
