Job SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Manager – Chartering with strong exposure to Dry Bulk Chartering. The role will be responsible for identifying chartering opportunities, monitoring freight markets, negotiating with shipowners and charterers, and ensuring commercially viable fixtures in coordination with the Operations and Management teams.
Key Responsibilities Handle dry bulk chartering activities with primary focus on Handymax, Supramax and Panamax vessels. * Monitor freight rates, vessel positions, cargo requirements, market movements and competitor activity to identify profitable opportunities. * Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, charterers, brokers and cargo interests. * Source suitable vessels and cargoes and evaluate opportunities based on freight economics, vessel suitability and voyage profitability. * Lead/participate in negotiation of freight rates, charter terms and commercial conditions for spot and time charter fixtures. * Prepare and evaluate charter party terms, ensuring commercial terms are aligned with company requirements. * Coordinate closely with the Post-Fixture/Operations team to ensure smooth execution of fixtures and adherence to agreed charter party terms. * Track vessel performance, voyage economics and market developments and provide regular commercial updates to management. * Maintain a strong pipeline of potential vessels, cargoes and chartering opportunities. * Identify opportunities to improve vessel utilization, voyage profitability and chartering margins. * Maintain accurate records of fixtures, negotiations, market data and commercial correspondence. * Support management in chartering strategy, market analysis and business development initiatives*.
Key Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of Dry Bulk Chartering and Freight Markets. * Handle dry bulk chartering activities with primary focus on Handymax, Supramax and Panamax vessels * Strong negotiation and commercial decision-making skills. * Good understanding of Charter Party terms and voyage economics. * Strong network of Owners, Charterers and Ship Brokers. * Ability to analyze freight market trends and vessel/cargo positions. * Strong communication, relationship management and coordination skills. * Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and target-oriented environment*.
Educational Qualification Graduate in any discipline. * MBA in Port Operations / Shipping Management or Diploma in Shipping Management* will be preferred.
Preferred Candidate Profile 5–8 years of relevant experience in Dry Bulk Chartering. * Candidates currently working with Shipowners, Chartering Companies, Shipbroking Firms or Shipping/Logistics Companies will be preferred. * Proven experience in handling commercial negotiations and vessel/cargo fixtures. * Strong existing market contacts and understanding of the dry bulk freight market* will be an advantage
