Responsibilities/Tasks
* Monitor compliance with applicable laws , regulations and regulatory instructions.
Track new regulatory requirements and coordinate for implementation with relevant departments
Review and prepare Ensure policies and procedures are aligned with regulatory and group requirements.
Review business activities and transactions for compliance breaches.
Identify gap, weaknesses and potential regulatory risk.
Follow up on corrective actions where needed and follow up on internal/ external/
regulatory audit issues; ensuring a timely closure of regulatory inspections and examinations.
Supervise AML/CFT controls and monitoring activities.
Review alerts, unusual transactions and any escalated cases.
Review CDD requirements for restricted/ high risk customers accounts upon on boarding and periodic reviews and provide approvals where needed.
Ensure suspicious activity is escalated and reported appropriately.
Monitor team performance and deadlines.
Review quality of team work either by supporting as a checker role ( where there is a need) or by assurance - through taking frequent samples and oversight testing
Prepare periodic compliance reports for the head of compliance and senior management.
Support in developing compliance controls and governance frameworks.
Report regulatory breaches, control deficiencies and remediation progress.
Report compliance KPIs and monitoring results.
Coordinate responses to regulator requests.
Support regulatory inspections and examinations.
Assist in preparing the annual compliance plan.
Support in investigations related to suspected cases.
Support in conducting the enterprise- wide compliance risk assessment (EWRA).
Review and assess name screening and transaction screenings related alerts
Job Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administrations , law, economic or a related field
5-7 years of relevant experience in AML/CFT.
Strong knowledge of AML/CFT requirements, regulator compliance and financial-sector regulations.
Experience in compliance monitoring, risk assessments, investigations and regulatory reporting.
Professional certification: CAMs.
Previous experience in a supervisory or team-lead role is preferred.
Special Skills
* Excellent knowledge of compliance and AML/CFT frameworks
Excellent knowledge of local regulatory instructions and requirements related to
AML/CFT especially in regards to monitoring, investigations and reporting
Excellent knowledge of CDD and EDD requirements relevant to onboarding and periodic reviews.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to supervise and develop compliance staff.
Ability to interpret regulatory requirement.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
