Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacist role based at Imam Sadiq Teaching Hospital in Al Hillah. The Pharmacist will dispense medications accurately, verify prescriptions, and ensure compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards. The role includes reviewing medication orders for appropriateness, detecting potential drug interactions, and providing clear counseling to patients and families on proper medication use and side effects. The Pharmacist will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals on treatment plans, dosage adjustments, and formulary management. Daily tasks also involve maintaining inventory, monitoring storage conditions, documenting clinical interventions, participating in medication safety initiatives, and supporting the training of students and junior staff.
Qualifications
* Professional pharmacy qualification (Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or equivalent) and valid license/registration to practice as a Pharmacist, or eligibility to obtain it according to local regulations.
* Strong knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, drug interactions, and hospital formulary management, with the ability to apply evidence-based guidelines in clinical decision-making.
* Experience in medication dispensing, prescription verification, and patient counseling, preferably in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and explain complex information in understandable terms.
* High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and commitment to medication safety, accurate documentation, and adherence to infection control and quality standards.
* Ability to work on-site in Al Hillah on a full-time schedule, adapt to shift work as needed, and manage workload in a fast-paced clinical environment.
* Comfort with basic computer systems and electronic medical records; familiarity with hospital pharmacy software is an advantage.
* Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development; prior experience in a teaching hospital or involvement in training/education activities is a plus.
