المركز العربي للأبحاث ودراسة السياسات مؤسسة بحثية فكرية مستقلة، مختصة بالعلوم الاجتماعية والإنسانية في جوانبها النظرية والتطبيقية. تسعى، عبر نشاطها العلمي والبحثي، إلى خلق تواصل بين المثقفين والمتخصصين العرب في هذه العلوم، وبينهم وبين قضايا مجتمعاتهم، وكذلك بينهم وبين المراكز الفكرية والبحثية العربية والعالمية، في عملية تواصل مستمرة من البحث، والنقد، وتطوير الأدوات المعرفية. يعمل المركز على تعزيز البحث العلمي المنهجي والعقلانية في فهم قضايا المجتمع والدولة، من خلال تحليل السياسات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية والثقافية في الوطن العربي، ويتجاوز ذلك إلى دراسة علاقات الوطن العربي ومجتمعاته بمحيطه المباشر، وبالسياسات العالمية المؤثرة فيه، بجميع أوجهها. سُجّل فرع المركز العربي للأبحاث ودراسة السياسات في بيروت بموجب مرسوم جمهوري رقم 8613، بتاريخ 3 آب/أغسطس 2012، للقيام بالبحوث والدراسات التي تُعنى بالأوضاع الاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية والبيئية والإعلامية، بهدف دعم بحوث العلوم الاجتماعية والإنسانية وتعزيزها، وترشيد الرأي العام، ودعم عملية صنع القرار ببحوث علمية تتمتع بالاستقلالية والصدقية، والتعاون العلمي مع المؤسسات الوطنية والإقليمية والدولية. وتشمل مجالات عمل الفرع في بيروت وحدات الإصدارات وترجمة الكتب والتحرير اللغوي والعلمي والفهرسة والتوثيق أيضًاً.

The Beirut Urban Lab is a collaborative and interdisciplinary research space.
