Center For Civic Engagement And Community Service

Since its inception in 2008, the Center for Civic Engagement and Community Service (CCECS) has aimed to develop a culture of service and civic leadership within the AUB community and provide opportunities for university students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds to study and respond to social and civic needs. CCECS’s operations are defined by the following cross-cutting tenets, (1) Outreach and Volunteerism, (2) Capacity Building, (3) Community Development Projects, (4) Supporting Service-Learning, (5) Advocacy Campaigns, (6) Civic Engagement Camps, and (7) Syria Relief Project. These components are rendered operational through the dynamic interaction among the University, socially responsible donors, and receptive local partners and carry an overarching aim to “engage in activities that enhance academic learning, civic responsibility and the skills of citizenship, while also enhancing community capacity through service” (Furco and Holland; 2004).

Danmission is an independent Danish NGO connected to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Denmark. Our mission is to create peace and understanding through dialogue and combating poverty for people in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Danmissions history dates back to 1821. Today we have about 55 employees and more than 8000 volunteers associated with the organization. Family Rights Forum

FRF has an ongoing project called "She Leads." Plan International, Defense for Children, Terre des Hommes (TdH), Family Rights Forum (FRF), Amel Association, and Dar Al Amal collaborated on the initiative “She Leads”. She Leads, a project funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs that will begin in January 2021, aims to bring together partners at the national, regional, and global levels to increase the long-term influence of girls and young women (GYW) on decision-making and the transformation of gender norms.Under the project, FRF will conduct one training for 6 youth from different nationalities and backgrounds. These 6 youth will be asked to conduct 4 sessions to peer GYW in their communities after benefitting from the 3-day workshop. Based on this, the training will provide them with skills and knowledge on Gender, GBV, and promote positive social norms for them to conduct sessions to groups of girls and young women.
