The Communications Manager leads Nusaned’s overall communications, visibility, and digital engagement strategy. The role is responsible for strengthening Nusaned’s visibility and reach, overseeing social media and content development, ensuring effective documentation of donor-funded projects, and coordinating communication requirements with donors, partners, and internal teams.
The Communications Manager ensures that all communication reflects Nusaned’s mission and brand while complying with donor visibility requirements, humanitarian principles, safeguarding, informed consent, and Do No Harm standards.

Supervisory Responsibility: Communication Officer, interns, volunteers, and consultants as applicable
Works Closely With: PDQ Manager, Project Managers, MEAL & Grants, Field Teams, Safeguarding & AAP Focal Point, Department Heads, donor focal points, partners, and external stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
1. Communications Strategy & Digital Presence
Develop and implement Nusaned’s Communications and Visibility Strategy in line with organizational priorities and programs.
Develop annual and monthly communication plans and oversee implementation across projects.
Lead Nusaned’s social media and digital platforms and develop strategies to increase reach, engagement, audience growth, and visibility.
Oversee content calendars and the development of high-quality Arabic and English content, including posts, reels, stories, videos, campaigns, and other communication materials.
Monitor communication KPIs and analytics and use results to continuously improve communication performance.
Ensure consistent application of Nusaned’s brand, messaging, tone of voice, and visual identity.
2. Project Documentation & Humanitarian Communication
Lead the documentation of donor-funded projects through photography, videography, success stories, case studies, testimonials, and field visits.
Coordinate with Project Managers and field teams to ensure project activities, results, and impact are documented throughout implementation.
Ensure all communication protects beneficiary dignity, confidentiality, and safety and follows informed consent, safeguarding, PSEA, AAP, data protection, and Do No Harm principles.
Maintain a structured archive of communication materials, project documentation, and consent records.
3. Donor & Stakeholder Coordination
Review donor communication, visibility, and branding requirements and ensure they are integrated into project communication plans.
Coordinate with donor communication focal points, partners, Project Managers, and the PDQ/Grants team on communication deliverables, approvals, campaigns, and visibility requirements.
Maintain a donor communication and visibility tracker to monitor deliverables and deadlines across active projects.
Support donor visits, events, campaigns, project launches, and other external visibility activities.
Build and maintain effective relationships with relevant partners, stakeholders, and communication focal points.
4. Content, Graphic Design & Branding
Oversee the development of communication and visibility materials, including social media graphics, presentations, reports, brochures, factsheets, videos, and campaigns.
Provide creative direction and quality control to ensure communication products meet Nusaned and donor branding standards.
Have a strong working knowledge of graphic design, photography, video production, and digital content tools.
5. Team Leadership
Lead and supervise the Communications team, setting clear priorities, workplans, deadlines, and quality standards.
Review and approve communication materials before publication or external submission.
Provide coaching and technical guidance to communication staff, interns, volunteers, and field teams.
Promote creativity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the communications function.
6. General
Identify communication and reputational risks and escalate sensitive matters to senior management when required.
Represent Nusaned professionally in external meetings, events, and communication-related coordination.
Comply with Nusaned’s policies, Code of Conduct, safeguarding standards, and donor requirements.
Perform additional related tasks as requested by Executive Director
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field.
Experience
Minimum 4 years of relevant communications experience, preferably within an NGO, humanitarian, development, or donor-funded environment.
Demonstrated experience developing communication strategies and managing social media and digital platforms.
Experience in project documentation, storytelling, donor visibility, and stakeholder coordination.
Previous experience supervising or leading a communications function or team is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
Strong strategic communication, content development, and storytelling skills.
Strong knowledge of social media platforms, digital engagement, analytics, and audience growth.
Good graphic design skills and proficiency in Canva; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage.
Photography, videography, and basic video-editing skills.
Understanding of donor visibility and humanitarian communication standards, including safeguarding, AAP, PSEA, informed consent, and Do No Harm.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Arabic and English.
Strong leadership, coordination, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic humanitarian environment.
