The Physiotherapist will assess and treat children and adults experiencing physical, neurological, musculoskeletal, developmental, or mobility-related difficulties. The therapist will develop individualized rehabilitation plans aimed at improving mobility, function, independence, safety, participation, and quality of life.
Main Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments of beneficiaries' mobility, muscle strength, range of motion, balance, posture, gait, coordination, functional abilities, pain, and physical limitations.
Develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans with measurable short- and long-term goals.
Provide individual and group physiotherapy sessions according to beneficiary needs.
Deliver therapeutic exercises, mobility training, balance and gait training, strengthening, stretching, positioning, and other appropriate physiotherapy interventions.
Work with children and adults with physical disabilities, neurological conditions, developmental conditions, injuries, chronic conditions, and other rehabilitation needs.
Assess beneficiaries' need for mobility and assistive devices including wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, standing devices, positioning equipment, orthoses, and related supports.
Recommend appropriate assistive devices and provide training in their safe use.
Participate in wheelchair seating, positioning, mobility, and environmental accessibility assessments where appropriate.
Conduct home assessments and recommend adaptations when required.
Educate beneficiaries and caregivers on safe transfers, positioning, mobility, exercise programs, prevention of complications, and home-based rehabilitation.
Monitor beneficiary progress and revise treatment plans accordingly.
Work closely with occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists, social workers, physicians, nurses, prosthetic and orthotic professionals, and other team members.
Participate in multidisciplinary assessments, case discussions, rehabilitation planning, and discharge decisions.
Maintain accurate and confidential assessment records, treatment notes, attendance sheets, progress reports, and discharge documentation.
Identify cases requiring specialist medical, orthopedic, neurological, prosthetic, orthotic, or other referral.
Contribute to outreach activities, early identification, community-based rehabilitation, disability awareness, and referral when required.
Follow Mousawat's safeguarding, confidentiality, inclusion, protection, and professional standards.
Participate in meetings, trainings, case reviews, and organizational activities.
Perform other relevant duties within the scope of the position as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
University degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
Valid authorization or professional eligibility to practice physiotherapy in Lebanon, where legally required.
Previous professional experience in physiotherapy, preferably with persons with disabilities.
Experience in neurological, pediatric, musculoskeletal, or community-based rehabilitation is an advantage.
Previous NGO, rehabilitation center, hospital, or community-based experience is preferred.
Required Skills
Strong physiotherapy assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
Knowledge of physical, neurological, developmental, and mobility-related disabilities.
Knowledge of mobility aids, wheelchairs, positioning equipment, and other assistive devices.
Ability to establish functional and measurable rehabilitation goals.
Strong communication and beneficiary-caregiver education skills.
Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Good documentation, follow-up, and report-writing skills.
Ability to work respectfully with beneficiaries of different ages, backgrounds, and functional abilities.
Commitment to person-centered rehabilitation, disability rights, dignity, inclusion, and non-discrimination.
Arabic language proficiency is required; English is an asset.
