The Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within the educational centre. This role involves regular cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that the facility is presentable and conducive to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in classrooms, hallways, offices, and other areas.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and floors.
Empty trash bins and replace liners.
Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
Dust and wipe down surfaces, including desks, tables, and counters.
Ensure all areas are free of hazards and report any maintenance issues.

Safety and Compliance:

Use cleaning chemicals and supplies safely and in accordance with instructions.
Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe environment.
Report any safety hazards or concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Facility Upkeep:

Assist in setting up and breaking down for events and activities as needed.
Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
Ensure all cleaning equipment is properly maintained and stored.

Support Services:

Respond promptly to requests for cleaning or maintenance services.
Collaborate with other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.
Assist in maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work is an asset.
Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving objects .
Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Working Conditions:

Physically demanding work, including standing, bending, and lifting.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Work may be required both indoors and outdoors, depending on the needs of the educational centre.
