Ana Aqra Association is seeking an experienced Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer to strengthen safeguarding, Child Protection, PSEA, safe referral, and related protection practices across Ana Aqra’s programs and operations.

The Officer will provide technical support, guidance, capacity building, and follow-up to ensure that safeguarding and Child Protection principles and procedures are consistently applied across program implementation. The role will also maintain the capacity to support case management and appropriate referrals, when required and within Ana Aqra’s approved procedures.

Key Responsibilities

The Safeguarding and Child Protection Officer will:

- Support the implementation and continuous strengthening of Ana Aqra’s safeguarding, Child Protection, PSEA, and related protection standards and procedures.
- Provide technical guidance to program and field teams on safeguarding, Child Protection, safe identification and referral, confidentiality, and appropriate responses to protection concerns.
- Support appropriate case management and referral processes, where required, in accordance with organizational procedures, referral pathways, confidentiality, and best-interest principles.
- Develop, adapt, and update safeguarding, Child Protection, PSEA, case management, PSS, referral, awareness, and related technical materials and tools as required.
- Plan and deliver training, orientations, coaching, and capacity-building activities for staff, teachers, facilitators, volunteers, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Support program teams in integrating safeguarding, Child Protection, PSS, and protection-sensitive approaches into formal and non-formal education activities.
- Support safe and accessible feedback and complaint mechanisms and appropriate handling/escalation of sensitive concerns.
- Monitor the application of safeguarding and Child Protection standards through field visits, observations, consultations, and other appropriate mechanisms.
- Coordinate with project teams and relevant technical focal points on protection, gender, disability inclusion, PSEA, and other cross-cutting considerations.
- Maintain appropriate and confidential safeguarding and protection documentation in accordance with organizational procedures and data-protection requirements.
- Contribute to organizational and project-level reporting, assessments, risk analysis, lessons learned, and continuous improvement of protection practices.
- Maintain updated knowledge of relevant national referral pathways, sector standards, and safeguarding and Child Protection good practices.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Child Protection, or another relevant field.
Relevant professional experience in safeguarding, Child Protection, PSEA, case management, psychosocial support, or related protection programming.
Demonstrated knowledge of Child Protection principles, safeguarding standards, safe identification and referral, confidentiality, informed consent, and do-no-harm approaches.
Case management experience is strongly preferred.
Experience developing and delivering safeguarding/Child Protection/PSEA training and providing technical guidance to program teams.
Experience working within education, humanitarian, development, or child-focused programming is an asset.
Strong communication, facilitation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
Good command of Arabic and English.
Ability and willingness to undertake regular field visits.
