The Education Field Officer – Social Worker combines education field implementation and quality support with child protection, case management, and psychosocial support responsibilities.
The position coordinates and monitors education activities in learning centers and communities; supports teachers, facilitators, learners, caregivers, and relevant stakeholders; maintains accurate project data and reporting; and contributes to safe, inclusive, and enabling learning environments.
The position also identifies and responds to children and learners at risk of, or survivors of, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or violence through assessment, individualized case planning, direct support, safe referrals, and follow-up, in line with Lebanese National Case Management Standard Operating Procedures (MoSA) and Ana Aqra’s safeguarding policies.
The role serves as a key link between education delivery, children and families, communities, schools, and protection service providers.
Key Responsibilities
Education Field Implementation
- Support the effective implementation of education activities in learning centers and communities in line with approved work plans and program procedures.
- Conduct outreach and maintain effective communication with learners, caregivers, schools, learning centers, teachers, facilitators, and community stakeholders.
- Monitor learner attendance, dropout, retention, participation, and education-related concerns, and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain accurate and timely project data and documentation using Ana Aqra’s CRM and other approved systems.
- Support the collection and verification of attendance records, contracts, supporting documentation, and other project records.
- Facilitate parent and caregiver meetings and strengthen communication between families and education teams.
- Identify operational and implementation challenges and coordinate with relevant teams to support timely solutions.
Teaching Quality and Learner Support
- Support teachers and facilitators in applying effective, inclusive, and child-centered teaching practices in line with Ana Aqra’s education approaches.
- Conduct classroom observations and walk-throughs to assess learning environments and teaching practices and provide appropriate feedback.
- Monitor learner progress using approved assessment and evaluation tools.
- Conduct teacher/facilitator support and capacity-building visits and document outcomes.
- Identify education-related barriers affecting learners’ participation, retention, wellbeing, transition, or learning and coordinate appropriate responses.
Child Protection, Case Management, and Psychosocial Support
- Identify children and learners at risk or survivors of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or violence through referrals, outreach, education activities, or self-reporting.
- Conduct comprehensive child and family assessments addressing protection risks, safety, psychosocial wellbeing, health, education, and the caregiving environment, while ensuring that the child’s views and best interests are considered.
- Develop individualized case plans with clear objectives, actions, responsibilities, and timelines.
- Provide appropriate direct support and psychosocial interventions and facilitate safe referrals to specialized services when required.
- Conduct regular case follow-up, monitor progress, adapt interventions as needed, and ensure timely and safe case closure.
- Identify and manage urgent and high-risk cases in accordance with national case-management SOPs, ensuring immediate safety measures and appropriate referrals.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date case files and case-management documentation.
Coordination, Referrals, and Community Engagement
- Coordinate with MoSA social workers, community development centers, NGOs, schools, health providers, judicial authorities, and other relevant service providers.
- Work closely with education teams and partners to identify and address child protection and psychosocial support needs within formal and non-formal learning environments.
- Facilitate and receive referrals through approved referral pathways while ensuring consent, safety, confidentiality, and appropriate information sharing.
- Contribute to community-based education and protection initiatives that strengthen child, caregiver, and family support systems.
- Participate in relevant Education and Child Protection coordination meetings as required.
Safeguarding, Ethics, and Accountability
- Ensure that children’s best interests, informed consent/assent as applicable, and meaningful participation are respected throughout education and case-management processes.
- Apply survivor-centered, rights-based, conflict-sensitive, and Do No Harm approaches.
- Maintain professional boundaries, impartiality, respect for diversity, and cultural sensitivity.
- Adhere to Ana Aqra’s Code of Conduct, Child Safeguarding Policy, PSEA standards, confidentiality requirements, and relevant protection procedures.
- Immediately report safeguarding and protection concerns through designated organizational reporting mechanisms.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from a recognized institution. A Master’s degree in Social Work, Child Protection, Education, or a related field is an asset.
- 4–5 years of relevant professional experience in social work, child protection case management, or field-based programming.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with children and families at risk.
- Experience in education-related interventions, psychosocial support, and/or school- and community-based programs.
- Experience working with schools, teachers/facilitators, caregivers, community actors, and service providers.
- Experience coordinating with MoSA and applying national child-protection frameworks is highly desirable.
- Sound knowledge of Lebanese National Child Protection Case Management SOPs and relevant child-protection legislation and referral pathways.
- Familiarity with Inter-Agency Case Management Guidelines, Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS), CPIMS+ tools/procedures, RIMS, and relevant protection, health, legal, and psychosocial referral services.
- Understanding of safe, inclusive, and child-centered learning environments and current education challenges in Lebanon.
- Strong case documentation, reporting, monitoring, data-protection, and confidentiality skills.
- Excellent communication, active listening, psychosocial support, coordination, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, implement work plans, and coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office and Excel, and familiarity with case-management databases and digital reporting tools.
- Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and good command of English. French is an asset.
- Knowledge of the communities and geographic areas of implementation is an asset.

- Having a car and the ability to travel between schools, centers, communities, and service providers, including over long distances, is highly desirable.
Working Conditions
- Regular field presence in learning centers and communities, with office-based work as required.
- Regular travel between implementation sites and service providers.
- Direct interaction with children and learners, including children and families in vulnerable and multicultural settings.
- Regular interaction with teachers, facilitators, teaching assistants, parents/caregivers, community members, local officials, and service providers.
- Work during weekdays and/or weekends may occasionally be required depending on program and case-management needs.
