What is Alsama Project?
Alsama is an ambitious and innovative non-profit education start-up. We run two twin education tracks: 1. Accelerated Learning Programmes that help out-of-school teenagers go from illiterate/innumerate to university- and job-ready in just 6 years. 2. The G12++ certificate (see section below for more details). We are a grassroots organisation that focuses on impact, quality, and scaling to where we are needed.

What is the G12++?
The G12++ is a revolutionary solution to help talented, displaced youth unlock opportunities. It is a global certificate designed specifically for young people who are outside formal schooling systems. Through an exam, it proves high school graduation-level competencies. After the first G12++ cohort proved the concept by entering universities and jobs, Alsama is now partnering with Cambridge University Press & Assessment to scale the G12++ globally to the youth who need - and deserve - this recognition of their talents.
The G12++ will be spun off from Alsama to Cambridge by 2030. We are now on a path to scale globally to reach tens of thousands of youth across the MENA region and beyond: youth who deserve to have their talents recognised, and their future opportunities unlocked.

What is the role?
You will own the G12++ ‘product package’ end to end. That covers three parts: 1. the online Exam (with Cambridge's assessment specialists); 2. the digital Prep Programme, an in-house app launching as an MVP in November 2026; and 3. the delivery model through which education NGOs bring both to their students by registering learners, supporting learners through their preparation and running invigilated exam sessions.
The overall impact of your role is to grow the G12++ product package from its first scaled cohort to thousands of candidates a year, and to build the product, systems and evidence that make it ready for handover to Cambridge by 2030.
You will independently own the success factors:
- Exam delivered at scale: digital exam is adapted to various product markets, runs reliably every cycle, annual exam development plan with Cambridge is delivered on schedule, and AI marking pilot is evaluated and scaled if proven. Cambridge-led.
- Prep Programme that learners stick with: MVP launched in November 2026 and continuously improved, with completion and conversion (from registration through to the mock exam) rising year on year, and localised versions rolled out in various countries/languages.
- Data protected: a robust PII and cross-border data protection framework in place across the app, exam portal, other tools and databases, and NGO partners.
- Impact evidenced and used to refine the G12++ product package: baseline, mock and real-exam data flow reliably between the Prep Programme app and Exam portal, and the Prep Programme's effect on exam results is reported every cycle.
- Scalable NGO delivery model: one repeatable onboarding and support model that grows with candidate numbers, with every NGO receiving clear, useful cohort reports each cycle.
- New delivery channels: 2+ test-centre channels (e.g. British Council, the Cambridge centre network) scoped, with at least 1 piloted within the next 2 years.
What will you do?
You set the direction, build hands-on, deliver, and lead.
Set the direction
- Develop and articulate a compelling long-term product vision
- Develop and implement the product strategy
- Localise based on product market fit and sustainable price
- Engage strategic partners and consultants
- Make the G12++ handover-ready
Build hands-on
- Lead exam development with Cambridge, including AI marking pilot and standard-setting
- Secure exam accreditation in priority markets
- Build and scale a Prep Programme that is engaging and 'sticky' for learners
- Own release management and quality
- Conduct user testing and discovery
- Prioritise and specify refinements to be done
- Protect learner data
- Measure, experiment and report
Deliver
- Onboard and support education NGOs for delivery
- Scope new exam delivery channels
Lead
- Coordinate a team of 2-3 people
- Manage the product budget
Is this role for you?
Alsama is a lean start-up, not a typical NGO. This is a high-ownership, high-intensity, high-expectation role.
This role is for you if:
- You are an entrepreneurial visionary with a clear picture of what good looks like for the future of the G12++, and you can turn it into a strategy, a workplan, lead a range of stakeholders around it and get it done.
- You are driven by mission. You see this as a chance to change what is possible for displaced youth, not as a job that just pays the bills.
- You take full responsibility for outcomes, not tasks. You work independently end to end and solve problems yourself, without waiting to be told.
- You have true grit, tenacity and perseverance. When something is blocked, you find a way to success.
- You have good judgement, and you’re able to make good decisions in complex situations where there’s often no “right answer”.
- You do whatever it takes to deliver when it matters most, such as on exam days and product launches.
- You are comfortable with ambiguity and thrive at a start-up pace.
- You build relationships that last, based on proactive communication, credibility, reliability, and altruism.
This role is not for you if:
- You want a clearly defined, steady-state role with established processes.
- You prefer to specify work and hand it off rather than roll up your sleeves and build.
- You need a large team around you to deliver.
What proficiencies will you need?
Must have
- Mindset: entrepreneurial, mission-driven, strategic, independent, and outcome-oriented, as described in 'Is this role for you?'. This is as important, if not more important, than anything else in this JD.
- Product experience: 3–6 years in product management or ownership, with at least one digital product shipped end to end in multiple markets, ideally in ed-tech or digital learning.
- Product market fit: adaptation of product to various markets, including localisation based on geographic markets and user markets.
- Product methods: user research and discovery, agile delivery, backlog management, writing specs and user stories, QA and release management.
- Hands-on technical ability: confident building and shipping yourself with n8n, Vercel, Supabase, APIs, databases and integrations. Fluent with Claude, Claude Code and other AI-assisted tools, with an understanding of software engineering and data architecture.
- AI/LLM product experience: for example prompt design, evaluating model output, or AI-assisted marking or feedback.
- Data and analytics: data modelling, SQL, product analytics tools and experimentation (e.g. A/B testing), and the judgement to read results critically (e.g. confounders, no control group).
- Team leadership and oversight: a track record of guiding diverse, junior, non-technical colleagues day to day by setting clear priorities and workplans, unblocking problems quickly, and keeping several parallel workstreams on time and to a high standard.
- Stakeholder management: confident building trusted working relationships with senior external partners, such as assessment specialists at Cambridge global exam board and platform providers, and aligning internal teams around shared goals.
- Communication: excellent written and spoken English.
Nice to have
- Data protection: working knowledge of data protection in international contexts, especially handling PII of young people across borders. This experience is highly valued, albeit not an absolute must.
- Platforms: experience with assessment platforms (e.g. Learnosity, Surpass) or the basics of assessment design.
- Pricing: experience with pricing or monetising a digital product, or with product localisation.
- Context: experience in humanitarian or low-connectivity contexts.
- Arabic: written and spoken Arabic.
