Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and clinically strong small-animal General Practitioner to join our veterinary team. This position is intended for a veterinarian who can manage medical cases independently and who has solid hands-on surgical and diagnostic capability. The role is not primarily focused on routine consultations, vaccinations or preventative care. The successful candidate should be comfortable taking responsibility for cases from initial assessment and diagnostic work-up through treatment, surgery where indicated, hospitalization and follow-up.
Responsibilities
- * Independently assess, diagnose, treat and manage a broad range of small-animal medical and surgical cases.
- Perform soft tissue surgical procedures independently and confidently to a good clinical standard, including appropriate peri-operative case management.
- Perform dental procedures and dental surgery, including dental assessment, scaling and polishing, extractions and management of common dental pathology.
- Undertake appropriate diagnostic workups using laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging, with particular emphasis on ultrasonography.
- Interpret clinical findings and diagnostic results and formulate appropriate evidence-based treatment plans.
- Provide emergency and urgent care when required and manage hospitalized patients appropriately.
- Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, costs and aftercare.
- Maintain accurate medical records and work effectively with veterinary nurses, technicians and other clinicians.
- Contribute to high clinical standards, patient safety, team development and efficient day-to-day clinic operations.
- Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education and current evidence-based veterinary practice.
Must Have Requirements
- * Uphold ethical standards and comply with legal regulations in all aspects of veterinary practice, ensuring animal welfare remains the highest priority.
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or an equivalent recognized degree.
- Valid UAE veterinary license to practice, or clear eligibility to obtain or transfer the required UAE license before commencing employment.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant small-animal clinical experience, with demonstrated ability to work as an independent General Practitioner.
- Strong clinical case-management skills beyond routine preventative medicine, including independent diagnostic work-up and treatment planning.
- Demonstrated practical competence and confidence in soft tissue surgery.
- Demonstrated practical competence and confidence in dental procedures and dental surgery.
- Competence in diagnostic imaging, particularly abdominal ultrasound, and ability to integrate imaging findings into clinical decision-making.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider clinical team, including in urgent or high-pressure cases.
Preferred Requirements
- * Practical experience with endoscopy and endoscopic case management.
- Additional continuing education, certificates or advanced practical training in surgery, dentistry, ultrasonography, internal medicine or emergency care.
- Experience mentoring junior veterinarians or supporting clinical team development.
