Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Structural Engineer – E-House role based in Riyadh, responsible for the structural design, engineering, fabrication support, lifting, transportation, and installation requirements of E-houses and prefabricated electrical buildings.
The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the complete structural engineering of E-houses, including structural analysis and design of steel frames, floors, roofs, walls, equipment supports, lifting arrangements, transportation supports, and structural connections. The role requires a strong understanding of the significant electrical equipment loads associated with E-houses, including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, batteries, cable trays, HVAC equipment, and other heavy equipment.
The engineer must be capable of designing E-house structures while considering static, dynamic, operational, transportation, lifting, wind, seismic, and other applicable load conditions. Particular attention is required for the structural behavior of the E-house during lifting, loading, transportation, unloading, and final positioning, including lifting points, lifting beams, temporary supports, load distribution, center of gravity, lifting configurations, and transportation restraints.
The role will also include developing and reviewing lifting and transportation engineering methodologies and method statements, including calculations and technical documentation required to safely lift, transport, unload, and install completed E-house modules.
The Structural Engineer will prepare and review structural calculations, 3D/CAD models, fabrication drawings, connection details, lifting arrangements, transportation arrangements, and technical documentation. The position will involve close coordination with electrical, mechanical, fabrication, production, logistics, and installation teams to ensure that the E-house design is structurally sound, manufacturable, transportable, and suitable for site installation.
A minimum of 5 years of direct and demonstrable experience in E-house / electrical prefabricated building structural engineering is mandatory. Candidates whose experience is primarily in conventional buildings or general steel structures, without significant hands-on E-house experience, will not be considered.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in the structural design and engineering of E-houses, electrical buildings, modular electrical substations, or similar prefabricated electrical facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design of steel-framed E-houses and prefabricated modular buildings.
- Proven ability to design structures supporting heavy electrical and mechanical equipment loads, including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS systems, batteries, cable trays, HVAC equipment, and associated systems.
- Demonstrated experience in designing for lifting, transportation, handling, unloading, and installation conditions, in addition to normal operating conditions.
- Ability to determine and assess center of gravity, lifting loads, lifting points, lifting lugs, temporary supports, load paths, structural reinforcement, and transportation restraints.
- Experience in developing or reviewing lifting plans, lifting calculations, transportation calculations, and method statements for E-house modules.
- Ability to develop detailed method statements for lifting, loading, transportation, unloading, and positioning of E-houses, in coordination with lifting/logistics teams.
- Strong knowledge of steel connections, bolted/welded connections, base frames, skids, lifting lugs, equipment supports, and structural interfaces.
- Proficiency in structural analysis/design software and AutoCAD/CAD and/or 3D structural modelling tools.
- Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, fabrication drawings, connection details, and engineering documentation.
- Strong understanding of applicable international and local structural codes and standards, including requirements related to steel structures, wind, seismic, lifting, transportation, and industrial facilities.
- Experience coordinating with electrical, mechanical, architectural, fabrication, production, logistics, and installation teams.
- Ability to review fabrication and shop drawings and provide practical engineering solutions during fabrication and installation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills.
- Professional certification/licensure is an advantage.
- Experience with industrial E-houses, substations, data centers, power facilities, or similar heavy-duty prefabricated electrical buildings is highly desirable.
Key Mandatory Requirement ⚠️ Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience specifically in E-house structural engineering and must demonstrate practical experience in designing E-house structures for heavy electrical equipment loads, including engineering for lifting, transportation, unloading, and installation. Experience limited to conventional buildings or general steel structures will not be considered sufficient.*
