Role Description The Marine Electrical Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in the United Arab Emirates. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components on marine vessels, including power distribution, control systems, navigation equipment, and lighting. Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting electrical faults, performing diagnostics, reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics, and carrying out preventive maintenance to ensure safety and reliability. The technician will collaborate with engineers, other technicians, and operations teams to plan work, document completed tasks, and ensure compliance with relevant marine and electrical standards. The role also involves maintaining tools and test equipment in good condition, adhering to safety procedures, and supporting continuous improvement in service quality.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess skills in installation, maintenance, and repair of marine electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, and vessel wiring.
- Candidates should possess skills in electrical diagnostics, fault-finding, and the use of electrical test instruments (e.g., multimeters, insulation testers).
- Candidates should possess skills in reading and interpreting electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals for marine equipment.
- Candidates should possess skills in applying marine and electrical safety standards, safe work practices, and risk assessment procedures.
- Candidates should possess skills in basic mechanical understanding related to marine systems, enabling effective coordination with mechanical and engineering teams.
- Candidates should possess strong problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Candidates should possess effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and clients on-site.
- Relevant technical diploma or certification in electrical engineering, marine engineering, or a related field; prior experience as a marine or industrial electrician is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with marine industry standards and regulations, as well as experience working on ships, boats, or offshore installations, is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site in the United Arab Emirates, including flexibility to work extended hours or shifts as required by operational needs
