Role Description The Librarian is a full-time, on-site role based at Badr University in Cairo, Egypt. The role involves managing library collections, organizing physical and digital resources, and ensuring accurate cataloging and metadata for efficient access. The Librarian will support students, faculty, and researchers with reference services, information literacy instruction, and guidance on using library databases and tools. Daily responsibilities include maintaining circulation services, overseeing library spaces, updating records, and coordinating with academic departments to align resources with program needs. The Librarian will also contribute to developing library policies, improving user experience, and participating in initiatives that support BUC’s educational and research goals.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Library Science and Library Services, with the ability to support diverse academic programs and research activities.
- Experience in Library Management, including collection development, cataloging workflows, and maintaining organized physical and digital holdings.
- Proficiency in Metadata standards and bibliographic tools to ensure accurate description, classification, and discoverability of resources.
- Ability to deliver Library Instruction, including information literacy workshops, user training sessions, and guidance on research strategies.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with integrated library systems, digital repositories, and academic databases.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills, with a focus on supporting a diverse academic community.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students, and to adapt to evolving technologies and library practices.
- Prior experience in an academic library environment is preferred.
