Role Description The Lead Road Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site position based in Abu Dhabi. This role is responsible for leading the design and development of road and highway projects, including alignment design, geometric layouts, and detailed engineering drawings in accordance with applicable standards and regulations. The Lead Road Design Engineer will coordinate interdisciplinary inputs, review and validate design calculations, and ensure integration with drainage, utilities, and structural components. Daily tasks include supervising junior engineers and designers, checking and approving CAD drawings and design reports, and providing technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle. The role also involves collaborating with project managers, clients, and authorities, contributing to tenders and technical proposals, and ensuring quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness in all design deliverables.
Qualifications
- Strong Design Engineering skills, with proven experience leading road and highway design projects.
- Relevant Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering knowledge as applied to road infrastructure and associated systems.
- Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and software commonly used for road and infrastructure design.
- Experience in Product Design or component-level design related to roadway elements and traffic infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline; professional registration or chartered status is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of regional and international road design standards, codes, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage design schedules, and deliver high-quality outputs under time and budget constraints.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Previous experience working on major infrastructure projects in the MENA region is highly beneficial.
