Shape the future of industrial supply.MBK Global is seeking an accomplished, entrepreneurial General Manager to establish and scale an additive manufacturing business with a strategically important purpose: building sovereign additive manufacturing capability for Qatar and its critical sectors.The opportunity brings together world-leading international manufacturing partners, major industrial customers and proven technologies to change how equipment and spare parts are sourced, manufactured and supplied.
Proofs of concept are already progressing with some of the world's largest organisations in their respective segments. Your task is to execute these flawlessly, convert demonstrated value into commercial adoption, and build a sustainable business serving oil and gas, aviation, defence and other demanding industries.
This role offers the opportunity to build an enduring industrial capability: strengthening supply chain resilience, addressing obsolescence, reducing lead times and supporting the reliable operation of critical assets.
Your mandateYou will own the business from feasibility and formation through to commercial delivery and profitable growth. Your accountability spans strategy, operations, commercial development, finance, people, partnerships, quality and risk.
Working with the CEO, Board and international partners, you will establish a practical route from partner-enabled manufacturing and initial customer deliveries to a qualified, commercially viable manufacturing capability in Qatar.
You will combine the initiative of a business founder with the discipline expected in safety-critical industries.
What You Will LeadBusiness establishment and investment readiness
- * Develop and execute the business plan, feasibility study, financial model and phased mobilisation roadmap.
- Validate customer demand, prioritise commercially attractive applications and determine the appropriate manufacturing technologies, facilities and investment sequence.
- Lead establishment activities, including permits, licences, facilities, equipment, operating systems and supplier arrangements.
- Identify and secure applicable subsidies, incentives and industrial development support; develop funding proposals and investment cases for Board approval.
- Build local capability through technology transfer, workforce development and partnerships that support sustainable operations in Qatar.
Partnerships and commercial growth
- * Lead joint venture negotiations with international partners under an explicit Board mandate, supported by legal, financial and technical specialists.
- Establish clear arrangements for governance, investment, technology transfer, intellectual property, licensing, quality responsibilities and commercial rights.
- Build trusted relationships with operators, OEMs, government stakeholders and the wider industrial ecosystem.
- Develop the customer pipeline, lead tenders and proposals, and negotiate customer contracts within delegated authority.
- Build viable models for OEM-authorised contract manufacture of equipment and spares, alongside properly authorised solutions for obsolete and difficult-to-source parts.
- Convert successful proofs of concept into repeat orders, framework agreements and enduring customer relationships.
Operational delivery and technical assurance
- * Take ownership of ongoing proofs of concept, with clear scope, acceptance criteria, responsibilities, milestones and customer approval gates.
- Ensure parts are delivered on time, to specification and to the required quality, with complete supporting documentation.
- Oversee the full delivery chain: application selection, engineering, manufacturing, post-processing, inspection, testing, qualification, logistics and customer acceptance.
- Establish robust quality management, health and safety, traceability and supplier assurance processes appropriate to each application and sector.
- Ensure OEM intellectual property, design authority, licensing, warranties and product liability are explicitly addressed.
- Protect customer technical data and digital manufacturing files, including applicable confidentiality, cybersecurity and export-control requirements.
Financial performance and organisation
- * Own the profit and loss account, budgets, cash flow, working capital, capital expenditure and business performance.
- Maintain disciplined pricing, costing, margin management, contract risk assessment and cash collection.
- Recruit and lead a capable team, drawing effectively on partner expertise while developing local competence.
- Establish clear performance measures, management reporting and escalation processes for the COO and Board.
- Scale investment and capacity in line with validated demand and delivery readiness.
Adoption and change leadership
- * Help engineering, integrity, maintenance, procurement and leadership teams assess where additive manufacturing creates credible operational and commercial value.
- Address concerns through evidence, transparent technical evaluation and controlled qualification.
- Translate proven technologies into repeatable operating practices, procurement pathways and customer confidence.
- Build adoption through respectful, trust-based relationships and consistent delivery in Qatar's business and working environment.
EssentialWhat you will bring
- * Substantial oil and gas industry experience, with practical experience spanning asset integrity, reliability, maintenance and supply chain within asset operations or asset management.
- A demonstrated record of establishing, scaling or transforming an industrial business or substantial business unit, with commercial and financial accountability.
- Experience delivering complex industrial projects or manufacturing programmes where safety, specification, quality and schedule are critical.
- Sufficient technical understanding of industrial additive manufacturing, materials, qualification and manufacturing economics to lead specialists, challenge assumptions and make sound investment decisions.
- Understanding of critical spare parts, obsolescence, equipment lifecycle management and the consequences of supply disruption.
- Experience working with OEMs and managing intellectual property, licensing or contract manufacturing arrangements.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to translate partnerships and customer opportunities into executable, financially sound agreements.
- Cultural awareness and the ability to build respectful, durable relationships in Qatar.
- An engineering or closely related technical qualification, or equivalent demonstrable professional experience.
- Strong professional English, willingness to travel internationally, and the ability to mobilise immediately and work full-time in Qatar.
Particularly valuable
- * Direct leadership experience in metal additive manufacturing or advanced industrial manufacturing.
- Experience establishing a manufacturing facility, industrial joint venture or localised technology capability.
- Exposure to aviation or defence qualification and customer requirements.
- Qatar or wider GCC experience, including industrial development programmes and local supply chains.
- Experience developing national talent and transferring technical capability from international partners.
